"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Eve: So beautiful and also amusing!

Pie: We just ate Boboli Pizza Pie. I would like a more traditional cherry pie actually. Love cherry pie.

Johnny Carson: I love the little Carson-isms that Jon Stewart tosses in on an almost nightly basis. My junior high (7-9 grades) had a split schedule, and for 7 and 8, I was on the late shift. This meant I went to school at noon (until 5pm), and I got to stay up until 1am watching the Tonight Show. This would be...1973-74. So I watched a lot of classic Johnny Carson in his heydey. Like Jon Stewart (his true heir) he had an incredibly light touch and could milk a laugh out of the slightest wiggle of his eyebrows.

Guess Who I Saw?: Answer Betsy and Consuela at Amoeba Records. Betsy scored The Prisoner, Consuela Stargate (the movie) and Bullwinkle. I showed them my Orgy of The Dead.

You know what's good? Living in a city where you can just run into Betsy and Consuela.

Always Anti-fascist!

Like "Mmm, that's good----." Score! I thought I remembered that from some place. Feeling smart and hip now. Love this.

Why did Darth Vader cross the road? To get to the Dark Side!

That card is awesome, Kat.

Franny woke from her nap and wanted to wear her cowgirl boots (they are pink and two sizes too big for her). So Daddy insisted that we put the blue jean diaper cover on her. Too cute. I really must take photos this time.

Jesse, I am an utter failure at pie crusts. I should make ita show me how to do it.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

I am a believer that pie crust is a combination of practice and temperment. Is that the word? My mother will never be able to not over-work a crust.

I wish I had pie now. Pizza, cherry, pork, whatever. I need to eat some dinner, I guess.

"There are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea."

Awww. How old is Franny now?

Well I have no idea if I have the pie crust temperment or not.

Okay, now I'm getting a little hungry. May need to start thinking about dinner.

She's 17 months today, sj.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Franny woke from her nap and wanted to wear her cowgirl boots

I love this. It wasn't that long ago that she couldn't express preference for clothing (if she felt it), not to mention back when she didn't even know they were her feet.

Burrell, my pie crust instinct is sort of vague and hard to articulate. I know what it feels like when it's about to be just the sort of flakey I like. Today wasn't it, but at least it didn't decompose like some of my terrible failures have. It should be fine.

Keep the cold things cold, and don't work it too hard, is the basis.

Aw. Happy monthiversary, Frances!

I ate some laughing cow cheese. I guess that'll do.

Pie crusts? I buy them. Tried a few times. Too much work for too wimpy product. Or at least for me and my impatience.

My cousin sent out a yearly letter. Her absolutely freaking adorable 3 year old daughter (think spiral gold-redhead imp) has changed her life career from veterinarian to cowgirl. Complete with the outfit. So dang cute!

Hopefully, I'll see her in March. There is a family reunion/50th-anniversary happening then. (Dear god, one of my aunts had been married 50 years!) I'm told that one of my cousins, who I don't know that well but for the reunion 5 years ago, is really really looking forward to seeing me. As in, flying in despite her extreme flying phobia. So I gotta go. It's weird, because she's all overacheiver-that-I-was (she's a law student now) and me, slacker and spinning wheels extraordinaire, is someone she's really hoping to see? Dude, must work on my self confidence. I'm flattered, but wondering WTF!
