Death is your art. You make it with your hands day after day. That final gasp, that look of peace. And part of you is desperate to know: What's it like? Where does it lead you? And now you see, that's the secret. Not the punch you didn't throw or the kicks you didn't land. She really wanted it. Every Slayer has a death wish. Even you.

You can't leave me to my own devices; my devices are Nap and Eat. -Zenkitty

but when you factor in that I clearly remember playing peekaboo with them and putting on stuffed animal plays when they were toddlers, it's a bit creepy.

Oh dear, this reminded me of a friend's kid sister. I hadn't seen her in quite a while, and the next time we ran into each other (at a gather of computer nerds her folks were attending), she had become an attractive and curvy 18. Which any person could see, but then she started crushing on me, which skeeved me the hell out because I knew her when she was EIGHT YEARS OLD.

It was very difficult explaining to her that it wasn't something she should take personally, but there was no way at all I was ever going to be able to think of her that way.

Just to follow on the Bill Moyer article before:

I have a plan.

So I managed to catch the swearing-in ceremony this morning and I found myself just a little surprised. Or maybe disappointed, I don't know. I was half expecting to hear Sideshow Bob's acceptance speech.

"We are the Goon Squad and we're coming to town...Beep! Beep!" - David Bowie, "Fashion"

Instead, you got a speech from the love child of Homer Simpson and Ned Flanders.

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

Fandom means never having to say "But where would I wear that?"

Timelies all!

Spent an hour or so at Jiffy Lube waiting for my car to be done. I guess a lot of people decided today was a good day to bring their cars in.

I remember the crazy days. 500 posts an hour. Nubmer! Natgbsb

Dear lender,

When I send you the list of things I need from you for my refinance, you kinda need to get on that. Your failure to get me things may make me miss your imposed deadline, and that doesn't seem quite fair. I will throw a hissy fit and speak to higher ups and cause a general stink. Please get on it, right away.

Thanks - me

ION, I know you are anxiously awaiting more news on my work....Flowers are now arranged, plates are partially made up, food is in fridge, spoons, bowls and a water pitcher are in the event space.

Now, I lunch and fill out my reimbursement sheet.

I’m responsible for my own happiness? I can’t even be responsible for my own breakfast! (Bojack Horseman)

Maybe it's because everyone has the day off due to the inaugeration?

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

Good call. I'm only hearing it in the background because it's on several tv's in the office, but I'm already thoroughly sick of "God Bless America." It's being played approximately every three seconds. We need a new theme song before my head explodes.

There's that Ashcroft song.
