I just bought my first power tool--a Black&Decker cordless screwdriver. It's not much, but it comes in handy when you have to put up blinds in the bedroom.

I got mine for my birthday a few years ago. I also have a nice hefty hammer that I think came from the Starbucks I used to work at. I can never keep track of my screwdrivers, though.
Ooh, staple gun. Not that it gets much use, but it's fun to know that I have.

Have any of you read One Good Turn? In it the author that screws and screwdrivers were the most important tool of the last millenium. I was disbelieving until I read the book. Without the screw, there would be no printing press, no clocks, no sewing machines, no guns.

I love my hammer. It's a solid metal handle that is cut from the same piece as the head with a balanced rubber grip on it, and the neck of the handle is tapered so that it's anti-vibration.
I just realized my hammer is far too high tech.

You know what is also oddly useful? A rubber mallet.
Extremely. On tech crew we used to refer to it as the "fine tuner" and it got used quite often.
At home I have a hammer, a screwdriver set, various pliers and a cheap socket wrench set in my car. I suddenly realize I am very tool-deprived. On the other hand, my landlord does all the household repairs so I don't often need tools.

Gud, are you sure you're not talking about a circular saw? A rotary saw is more like a router.
