Ah, such joy coming in to the office and finding messages asking why I finished one segment of work and not another last week. Perhaps because I worked on the finished segment first, rather than magically doing both at the same time? Or because I was 85 miles and an icy bridge from the office Wednesday and it would require direct divine intervention to make me work over the Christmas holiday? Take your pick...
Oh well, Big Boss was thrilled with what I brought in this morning, AND I gave her stuck car a push to get out of the icy parking lot, so I think I'm good for now.
Must remember to deposit last week's paycheck before rent comes due, and to get my hair cut in prep for a potential date/hookup Tuesday.
Oh, wow. Reggie White has died. [link]
Age 43.
Bleaahhhh. Pouring rain here in SF this morning. I was very disinclined to get out of bed, much less go to work, yet here I am. JZ and Emmett are off to visit some friends and go see a movie today (probably the Lemony Snicket). I've got Emmett tomorrow, and then am taking Wednesday for my own self.
I don't like "Happy Holidays" because it's too generic. As a writer I'm all about the objective correlative and the concrete reference and the evocative detail. "Happy Holidays" evokes nothing in particular. I wish "Merry Christmas" to people that celebrate it, and "Happy Channukkah" to all my jews, and note the Solstice to the pagans and like that. I'm not very reflexive with the seasonal greetings, so it only crops up when I'm conscious of who I'm speaking to.
My age. Boo mortality!
Particularly the way too and very premature sort. Hiss.
Chris is walking around in his new slippers, singing, "Stomp stomp stomp! Doing the Yeti stomp." I much prefer that to mortality.
Isn't 43 awfully young to be having a heart attack, even for people who aren't conditioned professional athletes?

He's been dealing with some sort of chronic respiratory problem for several years. Though, of course, one can't help wonder if there were any steroids involved considering we're talking about one of the strongest guys who ever played defensive end. That would be contrary, though, to his reputation and I don't meant to slander him.

Yup. Yesterday they just said he died in his sleep and they didn't know why, but he suffered from sleep apnea. I can't read anything at the other end of that link, has heart attack been reported?
I heard heart attack on the radio this morning, but if you've seen a written report stating no certain cause I'd take that as more reliable than the Morning Zoo Crew.
White was one of my least favorite people that I've never actually met, so I'll confess my thoughts upon hearing the news were rather uncharitable. But my sympathies do go out to any loved ones he left behind.

The thing is, being so conditioned and being in such a rough sport also takes a toll on the heart. Also, he could have just been prone to them, if that is what he actually died from.
