Apart from sports, "my secret favorite thing on earth is ketchup. I will put ketchup on anything. But it has to be Heinz." - my husband, Michael Vartan

He he. The musical backing up is actually the most annoying thing ever, despite how cool it may sound.

I believe it. But it still sounds really cool.

Thanks, sarameg!

None of those undies appeal to me in the slightest. Surprisingly, I'm super picky about underwear. Which is really a shocker, I know, considering the fact that I'm not at all picky about anything else. But I rate comfort extremely highly, and prettiness is just the teensiest bit below it. And basically, anything with lace or ruffles tends to get discarded fairly quickly. Underwire is not even a remote possibility. And stockings of all sorts are uncomfortable, so I avoid those too, unless I'm going to dance class.

And yet for shoes, prettiness is the most important, with comfort just the teensiest bit less important. I mean, I will buy shoes that are pretty, but I won't necessarily wear them more than twice if they hurt.

Hmm. I wonder why the prettiness/comfort scale gets adjusted for each item. You'd think the standards would remain pretty consistent.

A dress should be tight enough to show you're a woman but loose enough to flee from zombies. — Ginger

Nope. I need CLOTHES to be comfy, but underwear and shoes? NSM. But I do tailor comfort to situations. Uncomfortable undies and shoes are NOT for class or work. Only for going out, when I figure I can numb my butt or feet with wine.

For bras, my standards are support, then comfort, then prettiness. I'd like to be able to buy pretty bras, but I've pretty much realized that my choice is either a bra that looks pretty when my shirt is off or a bra that looks good when my shirt is on, and unfortunately, I've got far more use for the latter. For all underwear other than bras, comfort is first, with prettiness also important.

Yeah, those rarely turn out to be the same bra. For the busty among us, at least.

It sounded like the Tyra bra got good reviews around here - anyone remember? I kept meaning to try one out, but laziness, forgetfulness, and cheapness do not a good shopping combination make.

Yes. I have to have an underwire, but I've been wearing them so long, it doesn't even matter. Droopy boobs are neither pretty or comfortable.

Why did Darth Vader cross the road? To get to the Dark Side!

Hmm. There was no underwear at my shower, although one friend did give me a copy of the kama sutra. Does that count? Oh and the best gift? A GC to a lovely dayspa.

Nor for the not-so-busty.

That makes me sad. I always look at those pretty little things (um, the bras) in the store and know that I could never wear them, but at least I'd like to think that they bring someone joy. One more illusion dashed to the pavement.

Our wings are not tired

I seem to have stumbled in here in the midst of an interesting discussion.

I tend to wear garters with my fishnets, the thigh highs never stay up.

You don't wear either with the kilts, though? that's a serious faux pas.
