Xander: Am I right, Giles? Giles: I'm almost certain you're not. Though, to be fair, I haven't been listening.

Good Trouble and Righteous Fights

Catching up on a day's worth of posts, with mini-meara:

The only real comment I have to make is that I am very amused that the earthquake averse think they are safe by not living in California. I have some very bad news for you -- you are just playing the odds.

True. In researching the travel article on Glastonbury I just sold (yay me!), I discovered there was a biggish earthquake in England in 1295, and it wasn't the only one!

On the usage topic, my newest pet peeve is "in tact" for "intact." Drives me almost as crazy as "free reign," "tow the line," and "alot."

Last night I wrote a passage where a character "reined in his thoughts." Now I'm second-guessing it, not because it's not the right phrase for what I mean, but because I'm afraid some contest judge or, God help us, editor or agent is going to think it should be "reign" and I can't spell!

Except that the owners of Costco treat their employees better and give all their political donations to Democrats.

Word. I love Costco. I get to save tons of money and feel good about the business I'm supporting. A rare combo, that.

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

Got a craving in the grocery store (convenient) and have just finished off my dinner of banana pancakes. Yum.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

I totally skipped, but: I don't think I've ever NOT gotten MLK Day off. Relatedly, I've never gotten Columbus Day. I've mostly worked for non-profits.

The real reason I skipped is this: I was just out with a friend, and I knew he used to work in "the entertainment industry," but I never knew details. Turns out, he was Vinnie Kartheiser's manager!!

Was? Is he still? I've been wondering what Vinnie's been up to lately.

Okay, I've decided that all solitary "!" should be accompanied by the Metal Gear Solid alert sound. It's such a great sound.

Was. He is currently a grad student. My friend, not Vinnie. I did not ask what Vinnie was doing now.

Oh, and can anyone hook me up with the OC?

Ah. I just IMDB'd him. Small films, mostly, it looks like.

Am I right that Jude Law is not the six feet imdb claims? I swear he's short. Anyone have evidence of same?
