I also learned what "tortes" were last week on Judge Judy.
If I had a dime for everytime I've forgotten what a tort was ... well, maybe I'd have thirty cents. But, still. Won't stick.
One guy who was both.
Was this a repeat? I'm way curious now.

I have the same problem with "comprise". I can never remember if a zoo comprises animals or animals comprise a zoo.
So I don't use the word.
I think a zoo is composed of animals and animals comprise a zoo.
Zoo comprises animals.
I nearly always excise that from documents though, because no matter how you use it, someone thinks it's wrong. And even if they're a wrong-headed crackpot, the damage is done.
Heather is correct.
Wait, no she's not. A zoo is composed of animals, and a zoo comprises animals.
For a few years I could never remember the word "antagonist" in any applicable context. I could feel the need to use it creeping up on me, and kept swearing I'd just write it down and keep the paper in my pocket at all times.
Forgot to do that too.
Made the bit of bio class where we discussed antagonistic muscle pairs really frustrating. But at least I could go look up the word in the textbook.
ita, if I'm not misremembering the ER episode of which the Empress feels the squick was a repeat.
Maria, google agrees with you. I just spent a few minutes going through a furry mailing list and reading their responses. If I had less work to do, I'd check and see what the same people had to say about CSI, which I thought was way rude.
Gronk.
Sweet zombie Jesus. It's almost 5:30, and I'm just now getting around to gronking.
I need caffeine.
