Hey LA people, if you were going to drive somewhere for a weekend, just to get away, where would you go? I'm thinking Vegas, but where else is good.
My GF and I like to go up to Hearst Castle. You can stay for a night and do a Castle tour and then shop in Cambria. A nice getaway. (Though I think you were just there, so nevermind.)
okay, also? TRAFFIC today? Hellish. I mean, beyond hellish.
Damn the driving in LA is sucking right now. They can't get Laurel Canyon and Coldwater Canyon open soon enough.
And ND nails it. Traffic is so nightmarish because many canyon roads are/were closed. It took me 45 minutes just to get to the FWY from my house on Mon, Tues and Wed. This is usually about an 8 minute jaunt. ARGH! Today was better.
I really want 24 to do a couple of episodes wherein Jack is stuck in traffic the whole time.
This? Hysterical.
Small, red-eared slider turtle with 80-gallon tank for free to a good home.
Lee, I immediately thought of the cats going fishing. Petri managed to snag a couple of fish when I had my aquarium set up.
I have two cats and two aquariums. Cats have never been able to get into aquariums. One cat doesn't show any interest in the fishies at all. Go turtle! Choose turtle!
I do not have MLK day off. Damn it. But I do have Presidents Day.
I've got MLK off, and I'm taking a personal day tomorrow. Go team 4-day weekend!
Two years ago we lost President's Day, Patriot's Day (which is pretty much only celebrated in Mass. and Maine), and Columbus day because our clients in other states didn't take them. However, we got 3 additional personal days as recompense. Which reminds me, I need to request Patriot's off as coming into Boston on Marathon Monday (and there's always a big Sox day game too) is of the suck.
We get Memorial Day, July 4th, Labor Day, Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years plus two "personal holidays". So 10 is generous in my book.
Add in the day after T'giving, and that's what we've got.
he still felt it was an imposition.
Two words for him: 1990 ADA. Just because some folks require extra assistance because they are disabled...argh. Idiot. If he pushed to have the meeting offsite for the sole reason of the extra work it's going to cause, he could open himself up to a discrimination lawsuit.
He just--he's monomaniacal about production. He resents anything which means he has to be flexible. Sad thing is, I know he thinks his devotion to the work makes him a problem solver, and he doesn't realize his obsession with only ONE part of the work makes him a problem.
Good Friday and Easter Monday, Nora.
Nice!
We get pretty much everything, but not those two days. But, MLK, President's Day, Veteren's Day, Columbus Day, Patriot's Day (which is like the best day off EVER).
I used to get Patriot's Day off here in Missouri when I worked for a company based in Boston.
The kids have off school, which is surprising because I thought they would use the day to make up hurricance days. I work every day.
Now Bob Marley's widow is saying her words were twisted and she will not be moving him.
::glowers at people for whom the concept of day off means something and involves pay::
As I've mentioned, the handful of days that Jilli and I get are ONLY because of companies what have been sued by temps insisting that agencies pretend to care.
I have no idea if Monday is a Company Holiday at Jobplace.
If it is, the only thing it changes for me is how I bill for that time. It occurs to me that the older I get, the more bitter about that I become.
Paul has Monday as a holiday day, but has to work in the morning. The time and a half will be nice, though.
