I'm sorry, dad. You know I would never have tried to save River's life if I had known there was a dinner party at risk.

Our wings are not tired.

Wake Up!

Apparently the shoes I bought for #1 for his birthday on eBay will never arrive as the seller is no longer a member. $96 and I am sad now.

Wednesday night is a good thing. SpyDaddy rocks. Lost was well-rounded with more varied character interaction.

Still sad about the shoes.

Always Anti-fascist!

Shoeguy=Jerkoff I've been too head-down in the Simonverse if I'm envious of sarameg's Baltimore jury duty, huh? :) Stupid Too Much TV. Just don't vote to acquit so you're home over the weekend and you will be golden, sarameg.

You always do this. We get tipsy, and you take advantage of my love of the scientific method.

I don't think driving to Catalina would work well, Alibelle.

Try rolling up your windows first.

Laura, that totally sucks. Doesn't eBay have some sort of buyer protection program?

sj - Great News!!! I know what a pain apartment hunting on short notice can be, so I'm glad to hear you got that situation resolved without too much sticker shock.

oh, laura, that totally sucks (and, is probably every buyer's worry is exactly what happened). I'm sorry that you won't be able to get the shoes.

I hate people.

So a fairly popular local radio station abruptly switched formats to spanish language. Ok, fine, whatever. Many of the competitor stations were crowing about its demise. OK, whatever. Some in the most racist, obnoxious fashion ever. I kept listening to see if someone would call them on it. Notsomuch.

Well, I won't be listening to them.

Uhg. Hate people.

I remember the crazy days. 500 posts an hour. Nubmer! Natgbsb

without a specific incedent today (so far). I will also stand in teh hating people corner.

my meeting last night was so painful without anyone being mean or rude, just ignorant and not helpful. I need a less frustrating job. I need to call job people today.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Well, I got that picture e-mailed to Ali, so something's come of this morning. And I did some of my back exercises (which I have neglected lo these long months), and god, I really should have been doing them the whole time. Just because I can get back to 90% of my activities really didn't mean my back was 90% better. It's amazing how quickly it tires.

Sara -- my nearest Best Buy just added Spanish to their signage, you reminded me. I spent way too long staring at Networking Redes wondering what I'd missed before I saw an easier sign.

move out and draw fire

sarameg, I just read that HFS is off the air. WTF? Why? And since as far as I could tell its competitors all based their formats on "music for angry young white guys" I'm not surprised about the racist tones of the gloating.

But wow, does this mean no more HFSestivals?

We've got a friend in from Moldova (Athens being less cold and miserable in January) and so I've been walking my butt off. Okay, not literally true, but much walking. Hiked the Acropolis (while 6 months pregnant, go me!), walked the Plaka several times, got lost around the old Olympic Stadium. Now of course they are predicting freezing rain and snow for the weekend, so rather than driving to Corinth we will probably stay in and play computer games. Or just shop - there are no tourists here, so when you walk into a store they greet you with "40% off."

One highlight so far was chatting with Greek shopkeepers about politics. My visitor is very pro-Bush, and the Greeks in general are not. This one shopkeeper asked what we thought of Bush, and my friend said, "I like him." I said, "I don't." She said, "I think he's crazy. Also possibly retarded." I swear coffee came out my nose.
