Well, then, this is a day I'll feel good to be me.

"I keep to a strict diet of ill-advised enthusiasm and heartfelt regret." Leigh Bardugo

Cash, it's good wine. And the winery itself is one of the prettiest I've seen -- lots of glass, good vistas.

Yeah, I grew up in Ohio and it was RPS there, not roshambo. When I taught in northern california, all of my students called it roshambo and I could only think, "Huh?"

Regionalisms fascinate.

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

I'm going to see Kartchner Caverns today, which is damn exciting -- I've only ever been in two caves, and this is a special "live" one that they've got elaborate precautions on to keep relatively un-tainted by the human traffic.

t clutches both mini-flashlights she always carries protectively

Random fun giraffe fact: their tongues are almost exactly in proportion to their height -- a newborn giraffe has a 7 inch tongue, an adult 18-footer has an 18 inch tongue, et cetera.

Art Crawl!!!

Hi peeps!

Re: VM - I will admit that I am more concerned about Wallace and Logan than about Veronica. Midway through season 1 that's not a good place to be. (Of course, that's the place I was at with Crossing Jordan from the first episode.)

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Wallace is looking cartoony to me, but I adore Logan. Not enough to keep watching, though.

Very cool. My parents loved it. (I'm sensing a theme. My parents go more interesting places than I do lately. Must rectify.)

Foggy here.

The feeling you get when your brain finally lets your heart get in its pants.

Going to Kartchner Caverns today!

Have fun, theodosia. They are really cool.

eta: If you have time, you might also want to go to the Desert Musuem, which is very cool, and has a lot of local animals, like javelinas and mountain lions and coyotes. Live, not musuemy.

All sorrows can be borne if you put them into a story. Tell me a story.

How did the whole poem go, with the making him pay, bit? Where's the rhyme?

Oops. I meant toe, not tail. So it goes:

Eenie, meenie, miney, moe
Catch a tiger by it's toe
If he hollers, make him pay
Fifty dollars every day.

We have thunderstorms with hail in some areas, flash-flood warnings, and a fog advisory. And snow predicted for tonight. Are the forecasters just trying to cover all bases, or should I anticipate rain of toads before we switch to sub-zero temps at the end of the week?

"We are the Goon Squad and we're coming to town...Beep! Beep!" - David Bowie, "Fashion"

VM: So the fact that the listening in didn't even ping me probably says something about me, and not a good something. Meep. The kaoroke was weird and gratuitous, but I love the song and KB really sold it. I have to admit I did laugh out loud at "Smile and say "repressed homosexuality" despite it being a pretty old chestnut, and I thought the very end of the episode was an effective sucker punch.

That said, I REALLY don't care much for the Veronica character anymore, despite really liking KB, because she strikes me as the smuggest teenager ever (and not just this episode), which in TV-Land takes some doing.

I think I'm sticking it out, though, since a) 24 won't be interfering with it after all, b) they are supposedly wrapping up the mystery and I would like to know what's the what, c) I still like the supporting cast (and characters) a LOT, and d) I figure it won't get renewed, so I may as well ride this year out.

Remember that the frontier of the Rebellion is everywhere. And even the smallest act of insurrection pushes our lines forward.

I REALLY don't care to much for the Veronica character anymore, despite really liking KB, because she strikes me as the smuggest teenager ever

When I realized that VM is basically a teenager with the maturity of a 24 year old, I suddenly had a lot less respect for KB as an actor.
