Gorgeous ice pictures, Gud. This is what we usually get instead of snow, with accompanying loss of power, and damage to trees. Our neighbors have one of the blueish yard lights in their back yard, and the street lights out front are pink-orange. So we get blue-lit ice shows in the back and pink ones out front.
I'm glad you weren't without power for too long. And that your house didn't get too cold.
yee gads Sue, That is horrible. Take the week off. Too much pressure.
I had oatmeal yesterday but it was not steel cut. It was still warm and satisfying, though. Today it is dreary out, but I am happy because I have the day off due to mud. Probably the whole week.
Gud, that third picture would make an awesome post card. Just the right color and amount of shadow. Or, a pretty print for a prezzie. We haven't had any nasty ice here yet. It could still happen, but I definitely hope not.
Man, the news can't get over the pantsless rescue. I've seen it 4 or 5 times now.
I just ate oatmeal (not steel-cut; just regular, with applesauce and protein powder). Yum.
It was a pretty ice storm, but it was awfully hard on the trees.
We're getting our ice storm tonight. One-half to one inch of freezing rain.
I will have to try extra hard to keep my new-year's resolution to not break any limbs this winter....
I did not have oatmeal, steel- or any-other-cut. I'm a rebel!
I have absolutely fuckall to do today. However, I don't think eating oatmeal will be among my timesucks.
Also, I didn't eat oatmeal this morning.
but it was awfully hard on the trees.
It definitely can be. And the trees can be hard on people. I had a near miss after one ice storm here while walking past some huge old trees that border the sidewalks the lead up to the Capitol building. I heard this snap and a huge thud behind me and a big old branch had broken off and plummeted 30 feet or so onto the sidewalk. I don't know that it would have killed me, but it sure could have broken a few bones if it had landed on me. Still gives me shivers.
