Sweet lumpy minion, you're the only one that understands. Probably 'cause I haven't sucked the brain out of you yet.

Jesse, that reminds me. I really need to get my gas service "turned on." It's on. They just added new meters. I'm supposed to take over paying for it. I'm told I have 15 days. They did it like...a month ago? It would really suck to come home to no heat.

But hey! My going month-to-month on my rent is only costing me an additional $575, not $720! need to start house shopping. need to go get preapproved and told my down payment available is too piddly

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

No down payment too piddly, sara. There's always something to be done.

I probably have enough for 10%, maybe even 15% depending on what my parents want to do. It makes me nervous to have no emergency cushion, and I'll be liquidating that.

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

Cass -- sorry, it's a bit of a one-off, though work has had two other sales conferences in the SD area that I know of over the years, so the likelihood is that they'll do it again sometime....

Now tagless for your comfort.

This is true. First time home buyers can qualify with very little down. I was shocked how little actual cash we had to cough up to buy. It took a while to dump the PMI payments, but it was worth it. It would have taken us several more years to come up with the full 10% down.

Ann, that's a ferret.

sarameg, you should be fine. We got in with 5%, though we had to put up with PMI (mortgage insurance) payments for a few years.

And when calculating whether you can afford the mortgage payment, keep in mind that your paycheck will likely go up because less is withheld for taxes. (Thanks to interest, real estate taxes, and during the first year, any points you've paid.)

Despite having Homebuying for Dummies I'm remarkably clueless about...well, all of it. My mind sort of overloads on details.

Bob's learned to live with tragedy, but he knows that this tragedy is one that won't ever leave him or get better.

sorry, it's a bit of a one-off
Bother. Sorry we couldn't find time to catch up.

I keep getting spam telling me how I "can refinance my home, for up to $350K"... The wee little place next door to my house sold for just under $700K. Spam is woefully underestimating the market here. And explains why I rent.

Danger is my middle name, only I spell it R. u. t. h. - Tina Belcher.

Anybody watch MI-5? Anybody who watched Spooks and can tell me what they cut?

You were a wrong baby who grew up wrong. The wrong kind of wrong. It's better you hear it from a friend.

Congrats to 'Ouise and -t! The actuaries seem to be multiplying.

We prefer the term 'compounding'.
