As for why you got another cat, I can only surmise that you wanted to clean litterboxes more than once every 2 days. Doesn't everyone?

I'm just really bitter about the Red Cross for a wide variety of reasons.
There is a long history of reason for being bitter at the Red Cross. My Mom (83) remembers them charging soldiers on leave for donuts during WWII. (Not an urban myth; she volunteered at the Hollywood canteen and witnessed it.) Red Cross has huge bureucratic overhead. There were some scandals with tainted blood.
Also many people with Hemochromatosis need to be bled regularly to relieve them of excess iron . The Red Cross will not accept their blood, in spite of evidence that (so long as iron levels are tested for) their blood is medically indistinguishable from healthy donor. (Note that other blood centers will accept donations from people with Hemochromatosis .)
To be fair, the Red Cross can get into places other non-profits cannot and has saved the lives of many prisoners of war no one else could have. Also exposed the torture that is part of our administrations standard interrogation policy - in spite of claims of it being just a few bad apples.
