Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I think she was in grad school.

Cats to become a rabbit should gather immediately now here

OK, that makes a lot more sense. She seems a we bit old.

Embrace the idea that we are the leaders we've been looking for. Grace Lee Boggs

I am now in California! I'm optimistic that I will soon meet buffistas!

I will not be back at work for over a week! And have caught up with natter by reading, not by skipping. I stayed in a hotel in Seattle last night. It was my second night ever in a hotel by myself, not on a work trip. I think it's because I tend to visit friends or family when I'm on vacation, and stay with them instead of a hotel.

I've heard that Anheuser Busch cans drinking water instead of beer and donates it to disaster relief agencies.

I'm not sure how practical shipping water would be. I read that the US Navy is sending (I'm not sure if they're there yet or not) five ships that make potable water. I don't remember the amount, but I think it was thousands of gallons per day per ship.

I try to think of things like this. Hearing news stories from Thailand and Sri Lanka, I almost burst into tears at work. I was really tired, which makes me prone to weepiness, and hearing the stories just push me over the edge. I just hope that the buffista ~ma helps in some small way.

I had to skim USA Today, because the reports were everywhere, and making my eyes prickle. I'm so unprepared to think hard on disasters of such scale.

It was my second night ever in a hotel by myself

Did it feel all indulgent?

Indeed, it did. I splurged for a nice place by the airport. Pillowtop mattress and soundproofed room. I could hear traffic, but not neighbors. I never slept so well in a hotel. Unfortunately, I didn't sleep nearly as long as I would have liked because of flights.

Unfortunately not. I'm in northern California and hoping to meet up with some Bay Area-istas. I gather I'd get rain anywhere in CA right now. Makes me feel like I never left home, only a little warmer.

I'm hoping to make it south when Serenity opens. It would have been all perfect in April. September is a bit problematic, but for Serenity I will try.

JPL is going to have a big dorky spacecraft robot float in the Rose Parade this year. And you can watch live robot-cam feed during the parade. Here's a link to a pdf parade graphic from the LA Times

I love the Rose Parade - the floats are such crazy works of engineering, art, and complete lunacy.
