My parents aren't really clueful on anything post-1975 that isn't folk, classic country (think Cash) or...well, like Alison Kraus (sp) and backwoods blues. They know their music well, but anything else?
Sometimes my father tries to hold forth on rap and hip hop and I about blow a gasket. And *I* don't know much rap or hip hop, but enough to know he is talking out of his ass. And has not listened to any of it in, oh, the past 15 years. But he's all about holding strong opinions on things he knows nothing about.
Fighting with snapfish now. Thinking I'll go back to ofoto, cause it ain't working....
Growing up, my parents had tapes of Conway Twitty and Loretta Lynne singing "You're the Reason Our Kids Are Ugly". IJS.
Bluegrass! That's what I was thinking of. They like bluegrass.
Cindy, I always feel compelled to disclaimer my dad because, well, it's just easier that way.
sara, have you used flickr?
Cash, we had that tape!! My Dad, bless his soul, loved Conway Twitty (and the Grateful Dead).
(I like "You're the reason our kids are ugly")
Johnny Cash, I love. Willie Nelson, I adore. Loretta on her own, you bet. Conway AND Loretta. NSM.
Dad is a huge bluegrass fan, too.
Nope. I may look into it. My main frustration is that I have a dialup. And 57 pictures, which I want to upload in their original size since it is so family can have photos printed. HUGE. I may beg my officemate to use his work pc, since there we have a fast connection. I'd use my machine, but....can't. Not without IT's help, and I'd just assume not advertise I'm not working, you know?
Cash, you and my mom could take car trips together....
I think the hippest my mom ever got was liking the Beach Boys. I don't think she ever realized or cared that liking the Beach Boys was less hip by the time I was growing up.
My dad used to like a lot of good rock. I got a lot of my classic rock albums from him when he cast them off. These days he's mostly a jazz man (and has been for quite a while).
ita's characterization of Michigan drivers as fast, impatient, but obedient of every traffic law except the speed limit is right on the money. Made me a little nostalgic, in fact.
