I always thought the name Serenity had a vaguely funereal sound to it.

We taught the baby how to slounge!!

I knew your daughter would be precocious.

Maybe shrift could give a panel at the con.

Woops! Look at that. I have car trouble. Won't be able to make it this weekend after all...

I can't even.

Woops! Look at that. I have car trouble. Won't be able to make it this weekend after all...

Or a brief recap to the very very small number of Buffistas at a casual brunch setting ...

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

Note to self: Even if three vodka martinis in 6 hours really isn't that many, enjoying them with a lot of very rich food the night before you have to get up very early to then fly on what turns out to be not quite as empty a stomach as you'd thought might not be the best of plans.

Signed,

Got Home Five Hours Ago, Only Now Feeling Well Enough To Sit At The Computer.

That said, I highly recommend the vodka martinis at Muriel's, on Chartre St. Also the hot waiter.

I'm not going to say whether or not I made it over to Napolean House for a Pimm's Cup, just to keep Hec guessing.

[eta: Oh, and the Palace Cafe does a very nice three-course Sunday jazz brunch.]

Unusually and exceedingly peculiar and altogether quite impossible to describe

Jess! I've been wondering when you'd get back!

Poor hungover Jess....

Jess has rested and watched Lilo and Stitch and eaten some saltines and is feeling much better and has missed everyone and is trying to catch up everywhere but will probably give up at some point and just skip to the end of a few threads.

HI!!

Not having has never been the thing I've regretted most in my life. Not trying is.

Sounds like a fabulous weekend, Jess.

Welcome back.

The feeling you get when your brain finally lets your heart get in its pants.

Welcome Back Jess! I am glad you are feeling better, not to mention back.

Our wings are not tired

I'm moved and settled into my new place so it looks like it is time to start dealing with the money for the F2F.

Here's how we're doing this. There are no tickets for the weekend. We're not collecting money from each person. Some of us have extra cash, and some of us do not.

So, we need to raise a minimum of $2500 to cover the food costs for Saturday night and to pay for the hospitality suite for the weekend and to have some food and drinks in the suite for everyone to munch on.

I've opened my paypal account and am ready to take whatever folks want to send. I'm going to post how much money we've collected, but I'm not attributing any of it to individuals.

That covers the cost of the event for us.

However, I'd also like to help out those among us that can't afford to travel, or pay for a room or any of those things. In the past we've had very generous folks pay extra money. In this vein there's a second fund that is being set up. This is basically a pool of money for folks to donate to help get people to the event and for rooms at the event. If people don't have an objection to me tracking the money in and out of this pool privately then you can just earmark money to go into the travel/housing pool and it will be set aside. If anyone wants or needs some extra help, send me an email and you'll get hooked up. Also, if folks have things like Frequent Flier tickets that they'd like to offer, just email me and I'll keep track of it all.

My PalPal account is under stagesound@earthlink.net and is now open and ready for service. When you send money please mention whether it is for the main fund or for the travel fund. You'll get a confirmation email back from me once I've logged the money.

I thought some of the food costs for Saturday was going to be covered by our bar tab? Or did I misread?

Our wings are not tired

We need to spend $1500 on Saturday. Part of that will be offset by the bar tab, but last year in DC we spent less that $1000 in drinks.

So, for safety sake I'd like to collect for the worst possible situation. If we raise a ton of money maybe we can do an open bar for part of the night.
