I'm taking time out from work to play on the board for a while. The real killer is that there's one department in my office that has first call on any and all resources - their staff spend a lot of time sitting around and chatting, going out for long lunches and cigarette breaks. And I'm consistently putting in nine-hour days (which adds up after a few months), working at least one Sunday a month, and my boss has been trying to get more out of me.
I think I need a new job. Hell, I KNOW I need a new job.
How's the job market in SF?
It's been getting better. What kind of work are you in?
I've been in the nonprofit area for a long time, working for small to smallish associations doing graphic design, designing and running the web site, some editing for the monthly journal, and a little low-level tech support (a large portion of it is making sure everything's plugged in and turned on).
I'm also getting tired of DC - the heat, the humidity, the insane costs, the public transit system that seems to be staggering under the load, the stodginess.
I checked the find your spot web site ... they keep telling me I should move to Milwaukee.
The insane costs are here, too. Here's a site for higher education jobs. I know there are sites for non-profit jobs but I don't know the names/URLs. [link]
Toddson! You must come the the F2F. It's not negotiable. The word non-profit does not mean "take advantage of the people willing to work hard."
Thanks - I'll have to start doing some serious looking.
Goodnight sweet Buffistas - I'll go home and dream of you!
The game itself? It's leisurely compared to other professional sports.
Yeah, right. Have you ever seen cricket? Baseball is cricket with ADHD.
Cricket isn't a sporting event.
Cricket is a military campaign with starched white underpants.
Baseball is cricket with ADHD.
And without tea and sandwiches.
