Plan what to do, what to wear (you can never go wrong with a corset), and get ready for the next BuffistaCon: San Francisco, May 19-21, 2006! Everything else, go here! Swag!

I know! This is a [first-world] disaster!
Hello from beautiful chilly New Orleans! I'm in an internet cafe, mostly to look at my cell phone's manual online and try to figure out (a) how I put it into "driving mode" while it was in my pocket, and (b) how to get it out of driving mode, so that it will stop asking me to say a command. (Sadly, "leave driving mode" is not a viable command.)
I met -t and her husband at La Louisanne (sp?), which is our Prom space, and I loved it. It's kind of oddly situated within the hotel, but once you get there, it's a gorgeous space. Exposed brick, nice light level, just altogether a very cool restaurant/bar. I suspect that we won't have the entire thing for our event, because it looks like there are several "rooms" that can be sectioned off. But I rate it A for Awesome. We were there pretty late, so I haven't seen the hospitality suite yet. I may stop by this afternoon and see if Marvin's around to show me.
So far, I have eaten a po'boy (oyster and shrimp, and if that was a half-loaf, I shudder to imagine the size of a whole one), a really nummy crabcake, and eggs-n-grits for breakfast (at Cafe Beignet). I have not yet sampled either a muffaletta or a beignet. (Or rather, a proper NOLA beignet. I've had beignets other places.) We also went to Preservation Hall for the last two sets of the night, which was some fucking amazing music. Plans are afoot today to wander around the French Quarter window-shopping, and tonight we hope to do one of the ghost tours. (Reservations are being made by other people as I type this.)
I cannot WAIT to come back in May and do this city with Buffistas.
Lord, I can't wait to be there, what with you guys all talking about it.
MMMMMMmmmm. Making me hungry, Jessica. I love shrimp po'boys.
And, I don't think I've commented yet, but your haircut is muy foamy.
Is it May yet?
Hi Jess! I'm glad you are having fun, and that the hotel looks good.
Mo-o-om! Jessica is seriously compromising my resolve to eat cheaply this weekend!
Hi Jess! I'm psyched! Thank you for checking it out.
La Louisiana is very pretty, I think it will suit us well. In fact, all teh public areas we wandered through on our way to the right bar were pretty (DH really liked te elevator).
The hotel location is great - between Royal and Bourbon, around the corner from Deanie's French Quarter location, a block from Arnaud's. It's going to be easy to get anywhere from there, I think.
