Are you allowed to use it? I suspect that Certain People would be ... uneasy about the idea of me using one.

In theory, but I've never read the instructions so I make Paul use it. Besides, it's his fryer. He bought it for the sake of french fries.

I want a beignet very very much now.

I had to read this a couple of times. I kept thinking, why would Jilli want anything beige?

The artist formerly associated with cupcakes.

Tell Certain People that the rabbit will be doing the cooking.

That wouldn't be any more reassuring, trust me.

And with that, I flee to catch the bus.

Kristin, I'm meeting -t for a drink at the St Louis on Thursday night, so I can definitely check out the Prom space. Is the hospitality suite this year a suite suite, or is it a meeting room? 'Cause I can check that out too if you want.

Ask for Marvin. Tell him that you're a visiting member of the Buffistas group coming in May and would love to see the rooms he's going to put us in for the HS and the Prom. He should hook you up no problem; he's extremely helpful and friendly.

Thanks! It's more curiousity at this point than anything since the contract is all signed.

'Cept for Laffite's which is at the end near Bienville, I think.

There's also Chateau Lafite in Exile on the 800 block of Bourbon. Ancient gay bar with very friendly bartenders. I'd recommend going in daytime for a casual drink (at night it can get rather risque).

Owen Brennan's offers another possibility for beignets and coffee, though personally I'd recommend going to the French Market in the early morning hours to buy fresh strawberries and look through the various bookseller's stands.

The Jazz Brunch on the patio of the Court of Two Sisters might be fun. The atmosphere there is great, and although I haven't tried the brunch menu their dinner food compares favorably to that at K-Paul's. Just make sure to get under an umbrella if you eat outside - the songbirds in the trees overhead look and sound nice, but you'll want to stay covered.

Riverboat cruises can be a great way to see some of the surrounding countryside. I'd suggest skipping the meal option though, as the food is about the worst you'll find in the city. The Creole Queen is the boat that's reputedly haunted.

I didn't think the brunch food at Court of Two Sisters was that great. My favorite for brunch is Brennan's, but that can get expensive.

Yeah, but their coffee sucks. I hear they use instant.

I didn't really like the food at Court of Two Sisters either. But the band did play us a few special songs since we were there on our honeymoon, which we appreciated.

I like the Court of the Two Sisters well enough. They make a Bananas Foster to die for. There are just other places I like better.
