Ooh, Deftones do a great cover of that.

ND, the reason I brought this entire thing up in the first place is because you told me yourself at the time that, of the 20,000 songs available on your hard drive, NOT ONE SONG was by the Stones.
That is correct, just an odd blind spot in my CD collection. Don't forget I also have something like 500 actual albums, so a piece of my classic rock collection is on that and I've not gotten around to replacing it on CD. I do however have Clapton, Beatles, and some other classic rock stuff. I also stated at the time I mentioned my lack of Stones in my collection to you that I'd be happy to pick up a few CD's and make sure there's a few songs in the rotation.
Here's the deal folks. We now have a range from obscure Hindi Pop, through The Stone, with the Classic Jazz, and Bollywood in the middle. With 50 songs to play with, that means that each person may only hear one track in the night that's from their specific very favorite genre. If you happen to not be in the room at the time, then you are well and truly frelled. In the past at the F2F I've also left my iTunes in an area where people can adjust what's coming up in the mix, what has happened is that the set list never makes it past the 25% mark since folks pop in personal favorites. This doesn't really bother me since it gives folks choice, but it does mean that we don't always get a well balanced range of songs depending upon who hangs out near the Mac and chooses things.
We have room for 50ish songs, we have MORE than 50 people, that means that everyone can't even choose ONE song.

Huh, I haven't heard that one. Battery does a good cover, too.

This doesn't surprise me in the slightest. I would be thrilled to bits if there was a swoopy-goth song played, but I won't sulk if it doesn't happen.
I *will* sulk if there's more than one polka song.

I've got 5 full CD's of Polkas at least. Don't tempt me. I also have a lot of Celtic music.
Mmmmmm, Celtic. ND, if you want some Stones, I have every classic album of theirs - all bought and paid for, so there are no royalty issues - between Satanic Majesty's Request and Some Girls. Those are generally considered the great Stones albums.
I want to see Jilli swoop.
And seriously, I actually was serious. If I end up hating the music - which is a high possibility, because my tastes are peculiar in a lot of areas - I can slip out with my iPod, and dance to that. The nice thing about a properly organised party is that it tends to be a self-oiling machine, and I won't feel the need to hover in the room.
I officially do not care which music ends up driving us, because I'm sure it will rock regardless. Plus I'm already sulking anyway because of the theremin shortage.

Suddenly I'm thinking we should definitely have "We Used To Be Friends" by the Dandy Warhols in the mix.
Brat.

Even if it's All Polka, All The Time? Because... c'mon now.

I'm with brenda.

Granted, I do enjoy a good polka, but even that would be okay. Because if any group of people can make 4 hours of polka fun, it's the Buffistas.
Perhaps there could be polka lessons for the polka impaired.
