Yeah, about two hours. Maybe we can arrange something. I'll check if people want.
F2F 3: Who's Bringing the Guacamole?
Plan what to do, what to wear (you can never go wrong with a corset), and get ready for the next BuffistaCon: San Francisco, May 19-21, 2006! Everything else, go here! Swag!
Is 1 extra week enough for you guys? I'd like to have the vote partially over a weekend.
I wouldn't rule out Phoenix. It isn't like LA or NOLA win any prizes for public transportation.
True. But LA, IIRC, had a lot of locals, with cars. I remember we were the last to arrive, damned near, pulling into the Safari's parking lot with a trunk full of wine and baked goods, after dark on the Friday, having driven down from SF.
Everyone was going out to dinner, and there were enough cars to take everyone clear across town, to the sushi restaurant.
Pheonix or SF I'd almost definitely drive to. This may well be the same for other LAistas. If that's the case then we'd end up with cars. We also had a few folks who rented cars in LA. DX had a van and Jon B had a Jeep Liberty, there may have been others.

Yep. Kind of my point - the availability of cars and drivers for an area has to be considered. We'd possibly drive to Vegas, but not to Phoenix or Seattle. All three of those, we'd need a rental, and that adds another chunk of change to the bill.
I don't know what Seattle's public transport is like, because I am a pampered cow, and the two readings I've done up there, either Pete and Jilli drove me around, or Paul and Plei did, or Nic did.
But getting around, ease and cost thereof, is something to consider.
Yeah, transportation is an issue. I'll drive to SF, but I'll want to park my car once I get there. I find it to be one of the most car hostile cities I've ever driven in and prefer to just get to a location and then dump my car once I'm there. I really don't like trying to drive around, especially in the city proper.
Bus service within the city is decent, and not too expensive. I find it cranky-making for actual commuting, but when I commute, I'm going 20 miles across the lake and starting from a 'hood on the edges of decent service. All the stuff you'd want to actually do/go to is an easy bus ride.
There's also a ride free zone downtown, and the locals all have cars or access to cars.
In addition, Paul could in theory snag the Flexcar minivan for a whole day.

That's me in LA. Nothing will induce me to drive there. Left turns allowed everywhere with no controlling lights = Deb walking to many many places.

Plei, is that handicapped-utile? Because if the vote goes for Seattle, that would be a humongous plus.

I don't know if they have a handicapped-ready one. He only usually uses the Flexcars for errand running and rescuing me when I've locked my keys in the car. It is, however, much cheaper for him to take out a car via Flex than it is to rent one.
Is Flex like Zipcar?
Jon B had a Jeep Liberty
They foisted an SUV on me! It wasn't my fault! I was supposed to get a Neon!
