F2F 3: Who's Bringing the Guacamole?

Plan what to do, what to wear (you can never go wrong with a corset), and get ready for the next BuffistaCon: San Francisco, May 19-21, 2006! Everything else, go here! Swag!

See? I gave everybody here an opportunity to tell me what a bad person I am and nobody did, because I fuckin' rule.

I'm trying to think of a way to phrase it in a poll, along the lines of "Could/Might/Couldn't Attend" -- something like "Could attend ONLY if guestage available," so the people getting concrete proposals from hotels would have a better idea of not just general F2F attendance but exactly how many of those will count for the hotel block.

Perkins, yeah. If it turns out to be SF and Deb's initial quote holds good or she finds something better, we might end up hotelling (anyone who needs to could still stay in the apt, though).

(Also be warned, I am speaking totally ex cloaca, with no input from Hec, and I'm really just waiting for him to wander through the thread and flip out like a mammal.)

It really doesn't matter. It's just an opinion. Don't worry about it. Not worth the hassle.

Dont worry, JZ, he won't. If he does, I'll steal his Flaming Lips cds, or something.

Also, keep in mind that neither Nic nor I drink. So there would be at least two roomy vehicles available for post-alcohol transport after things wind down.

In fact, I seem to remember half past two in the Castro, with a few of our out of towners, at Halloween...

The feeling you get when your brain finally lets your heart get in its pants.

It's not just the booze, Deb, though that is a consideration, it's also the travel time, and being able to dress up on site, and stuff like that.

I wouldn't win points by saying I was back at my hotel by then, would I?

I’d be lying if I didn’t say that I miss them all tonight…

Not with the memory of all of us turning into tracking hounds in the thick of the Castro burned into my brain, no you wouldn't. :)

In in our defense, we had seen literally no cabs until Deb & Nic showed up, and then whoosh! Cabs!

Didn't think so.

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

Add Zmayhem to the room-for-a-guest list

JZ, you do realize that if the F2F is in SF and I can somehow go, I'm totally staying with you? Okay, good, just so you know.

Good Trouble and Righteous Fights

3. I can only talk for San Francisco/Bay Area. I get to have a slight jump, because Susan has a busier life than I've got. with a tighter time schedule. But Susan will be on it (and she has minions!) soon enough.

Yep. Susan is going to try to make some phone calls early next week.

With that in mind, can someone give me the numbers for the last 2-3 F2F's as far as how many hotel rooms we used?

WRT dates, if we choose Seattle we'll want to avoid the second weekend in June--that's UW commencement and would greatly limit our hotel choices, especially since the two I know of so far most likely to meet our requirements are just off campus.

All for now. Annabel demands food.

The status is NOT quo.

I'm all about the under-$100 per night. But in the event that isn't possible, there's yet another reason to know whether or not I'm locked into an onsite food expenditure at the given hotel; if we're saving $500 on catering costs, that can go into the hotel fund, for instance. If we book 25 rooms, that $500 gives each room-booker, what? an extra $20 bucks off the room? Not a lot, but it adds up.

The room costs were done completely per individual since we didn't do "tickets" per se. The catering costs are completely seperate.

ETA: Meaning that the huge savings on catering would totally help us afford this as a group, it just wouldn't help individuals on nightly hotel costs unless there was a lot more money raised than was needed for all other costs.

ND has the money breakdown in a handy-dandy Excel spreadsheet. I don't have a total number of rooms used for this F2F officially, but I could probably figure it out and get back to you.

Our wings are not tired.

The availability of bed/couch room for F2Fers will help a lot if the price of the hotel is more expensive. It's a factor in the location pimpage.

The advantages of a prom location in walking distance of the hotel include costume changes, no drinking & driving, and the possibility of taking breaks from promage. I found it helpful to be able to go and chill in my room from time to time at previous F2Fs.
