JZ, the Hayes Valley is a no: their TV/DVD room/hospitality suite only holds ten people and they aren't wired for internet. Alas.

Plan what to do, what to wear (you can never go wrong with a corset), and get ready for the next BuffistaCon: San Francisco, May 19-21, 2006! Everything else, go here! Swag!
There was much grumbling in New Orleans.
I think the reason that no internet access was such a common complaint this year is that it had been promised, and then turned out not to exist. If we knew in advance that the hotel wouldn't have wireless (or would only have dial-up, etc etc), I think we could deal with it.
Ah, darn, Deb, that's a shame. Still, it looks like there are a lot of other possibilities floating around.
That's my thinking also, Jessica.
Would anyone disagree with a poll (after dates and cities have been locked in, of course) to find out how many people are planning on attending?
I think if that'd been done earlier in the game for NO, the actual number of attendees wouldn't have been such a surprise. (I understand that people canceled last minute but even with them included, the numbers would've been lower than what was projected to the hotel.)
Just a suggestion.
I think a poll was done for NOLA. It's just quite a few people had to not go during the last couple of months beforehand due to poveryt/schedule/etc.
On the phone with the Miyako. This is looking possible, depending on the rates; they have 12 rooms per floor, and all of the rooms have high speed internet access, you have the choice of traditional western or Japanese style rooms (soaking tubs!), they have suitable quarters for a hospitality suite...so we could book two discrete floors.
Person I need to iron things out with is away from her desk. Damn it, Margaret, get your ass back in your chair....I'll pop over there later and see about it.
A preferred date is going to be necessary to get hard numbers; I told them it's traditionally been the third week in May. Is that right?
now if we could just combine a SF F2F with Java One... (which is generaly the last week of June) life would be sweet!
Would anyone disagree with a poll (after dates and cities have been locked in, of course) to find out how many people are planning on attending?
I think a poll would be a good idea, but only right before our drop dead date for booking. Otherwise.... Hell, I'm planning on attending right now. I was planning on attending NO early on.
I think that's a great suggestion, Nicole (about the headcount poll); I'd thought the same thing WRT New Orleans.
Heh, I think the people who'd be saddest about the no/little internet access would be the peeps not attending who wait for updates and photos. I say from experience.
Love the idea of a rented out place if we can swing it. I'm so starting to save my pennies. Last time I was on the West Coast, I was fourteen. Too long.
