When we landed here you said you needed a few days to get space worthy again and is there somethin' wrong with your bunk?

A turkey in every toilet -- only in America!

So someone else will have to organize the Commander Palace then!

"I remember when they eventually introduced that drug kingpin who murdered people and smuggled drugs inside snakes and I was like 'Finally. A normal person.'” —RahvinDragand

Rats! That sucks, Vortex—you'll be missed.

I would offer to coordinate the Commander's Palace dinner, but I have a pretty tight margin between arrival time and the reservation time we discussed (also, abyssmal luck organizing dinners and parties, which should always be considered).

Edited to say I just reserved my room for Saturday and Sunday - no difficulties with the room rate, so that seems to be cleared up (for the moment, anyway). Parking was quoted as $19/day, which is slightly higher than I vaguely remember, but still probably better than public garages.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

Attention SF-istas! My husband and I wil be in your fair city for a wedding on May 1st. Naturally, a lot of our time is tied up with going to the wedding and asscociated activities, but we appear to have Saturday night (and possibly afternoon) free. I would love to see as many of you as possible!

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

I have made F2F reservations. I'll be arriving Thursday the 19th and leaving Sunday the 21st. I will be traveling by train.

All sorrows can be borne if you put them into a story. Tell me a story.

How does the train compare to air in terms of time/money trade-off?

The train is a little over 19 hours each way, but that's overnight so I can sleep through a big chunk of it. I paid extra for a private room so I can have a bed to sleep in. My total is $391. Without the private room I think it's about $80 each way.

I like traveling by train much more than flying (if I have the time). And who knows how much longer Amtrak will have long-distance trains....

eta: the fare for the train without the private room is $188.00 round trip.

Woe to the fucking wicked.

Just got back from Cleveland, safely and in good time (despite the continued presence of my Check Engine light, which, according to the nice mechanic who looked at my car on Saturday said was not going to strand me on the side of the highway and was still under warranty). I even stopped for Skyline Chili (which tasted strangely of cinnamon)

I had a lovely time and will miss everyone terribly. Pretty much everything I could say will have been said by others, but I may post later, anyway.

The feeling you get when your brain finally lets your heart get in its pants.

Tom Scola and Jessica, insent.

Also, hey, look at me, I'm in NYC!

I'm getting the pig!

Arrived home safe and sound. Wish I could say the same for my cameras. Milwaukee airport security sucks. Hateses them. A scant few half-way survived the mean x-ray machine and can be seen here.

Hoping Wolf Camera will be able to assist in getting the rest of the pics developed. Especially since I took quite a few of Deena's shirtless Nick. Such a cutiepie!

I look more rad than Lutheranism

Right ON!!!

A scant few half-way survived the mean x-ray machine and can be seen here.

The X-ray machine zapped your cameras? I didn't think that happened anymore! Oh, that sucks. I hope the camera place can save the pictures.

(And I actually like that picture of me talking to Deena while we walked.)
