Nana korobi, ya oki. (Fall down seven times, stand up eight.) ~Yuzuru Hanyu/Japanese proverb

I might be able to hang at USITT on that saturday.

'Splainey? I'm guessing it's some kind of trade show? I do know people who might be able to help.

Our wings are not tired

Yes, USITT is a technical theatre conference and the EXPO floor is the trade show portion of it. ETC usually has a fairly large display.

Art Crawl!!!

I think you can do it (travel to Canada) with a voter's registration card -- because it proves that you are a citizen.

The state department website recommends a valid photo ID + Birth Certificate or naturalization certificate or Expired Passport.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

They might let you into Canada with just a driver's license. Last time I drove there (spring '02) that's all they checked, even though I had heard they'd want a birth certificate. But what they check can vary over time, with the threat level, etc., so you should check to see what they're doing now.

So I guess what I'm saying is that I don't know. No one knows. Anything could happen. They might let you cross with only a live chicken.

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

Yeah, the passport/birth cert is much less of an issue if you're driving than flying.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

Driving into Canada is easy, it's getting back into the States that's hard. When I was a kid, we only ever needed drivers' licenses, but these days, they ask for passports.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

So, LAistas, JZ and I are coming down your way this weekend.

The reading at Vroman's is on Saturday, at 4pm. Might be fun to do lunc/brunch before-hand. I'm pretty sure there will be drinking after-hand.

I won't hold it against you if you don't want to go to the reading - but it should be fun. There will be music and a variety of readers and it should move pretty quickly. We had a good time in Chicago.

We're staying with Lee (on the west side), but the reading is in Pasadena (other side). I'm pretty flexible. But check your calendars and see if you are available for fun.
