Yeah, I liked it a lot. The train system was brilliant--while you can get a pass for however long you're there, you can ride the trains on the honour system. Not that, uh, I did that. *cough* I'm sure Berlin in June will be a lot nicer than it is in January, but I quite liked Potzdammer Platz, which is a great shopping district and fun to poke around and people watch. It also has one of the two english-language cinemas if you ever want to go see a movie.
There's a bunch of museums--if you have a student card it would be really useful, because I don't recall any of them being free. Most of them are located near Alexanderplatz, where the Cathedral is. The Kulturforum would be worth banking a day, or at least a few hours, for. Also, make an appointment to go into the Reichstag, the Parliament building, because you can get some kickass views from the nifty dome. There's a Lush there, too, at Friedrichstrasse, the main street in the city.
Woo hoo!! Lilty is coming!
Now that that is settled, what on Earth shall I WEAR?

This may just be my list.
BTW- when you book a flight online, they charge you right away, but when you book a hotel room, you won't get charged until you leave, right? (I know, I'm unschooled when it comes to travel.)
IME, the part about the airline is correct. All the hotels I've stayed in, however, have charged me the first night's rate about a month in advance to "hold" the room.
Woohoo! I just got the okay for the week off March 20-25, so it looks like my midwest trip is on.
All the hotels I've stayed in, however, have charged me the first night's rate about a month in advance to "hold" the room.
My experience is you don't get charged till you check in. If you ditch the reservation without calling to cancel (usually 24-48 hours in advance) they will charge your card on file one night's stay.
From Kristin's post about the hotel, KristinT "F2F 3: Who's Bringing the Guacamole?" Dec 30, 2004 3:50:48 pm PST
A first night’s deposit by check or credit card will be due 10 days after the reservation is made to guarantee the room. Individual cancellations or changes must be received by May 6, 2005 or a first nights room rate will be forfeited.
Thanks DX, I was just thinking I should Nilly that.
Thanks, SA. I've marked your post for future reference.
