So, My 20 Gig harddrive is almost full. Iffin I want more memory, can I just buy another 20 gigs of memory and pop it in? Or do I have to get a whole new harddrive and reinstall? And how much should one pay for more memory anyway?

Got a question about technology? Ask it here. Discussion of hardware, software, TiVos, multi-region DVDs, Windows, Macs, LINUX, hand-helds, iPods, anything tech related. Better than any helpdesk!
You can add a second harddrive, although it's not quite as simple as just plugging it in. A 120 GB harddrive can be had for under $100 US.
What kind of computer, and what operating system?
It's a Dell Dimension, Pentium 4, running XP.
Should be a fairly easy installation, then. The drive will come with instructions. (Maxtor's are very good. I presume other brands will be similar.) Just shop around for a good price, and buy the biggest drive you can afford.
Thanks DX!

Nitpicky me: You're talking about storage, not memory. Very different thing.
I blame all the computer teaching materials that for years referred to both as memory.
It will take a long time to undo the damage to the nomenclature.
Well, you know, if you're caching to disk, it is functioning as memory.
A long long time ago when I worked for Egghead software I was constantly explaining the difference between RAM and Hard Drive. It's one of those things that glossed over and folks don't quickly grasp. The main reason is that they are both measured in the same manner and thus folks think they are the same thing.
Any recommendations for USB audio input-output thingies? My Apple Cube does not have a dedicated audio output, but comes with a nice pair of USB speakers. But connecting the speakers to my stereo via the headphone jack (the only option) doesn't work too well. Also, I'd like some sort of audio in, preferably with a preamp that can handle a turntable-level input.
this looks good (although I don't know if it can handle a turntable inpute without using an additional preamp) but it's a little pricy at $179.99. Although it does handle guitar and other instrument input, in case I want to pick up guitar again....
eta: This is ugly so I won't buy it.
Maybe this?
