Got a question about technology? Ask it here. Discussion of hardware, software, TiVos, multi-region DVDs, Windows, Macs, LINUX, hand-helds, iPods, anything tech related. Better than any helpdesk!
First of all, thanks all for not pointing and shouting "leporous newbie! Die!" Secondly, thanks for willingness to aid someone who probably shoudln't be on the computer in the first place.
Did that, using explorer now and nothing happened. Also went into the "set programs and access defaults" option on the start menu. Zero joy.
In IE, go to Tools->Internet Options...->Programs, and check the box that says "Internet Explorer should check and see whether it is the default browser". Press OK, and then quit and restart IE.
When you're in Internet Explorer, try opening Internet Options, and then look for the "Programs" tab. There should be a checkbox near the bottom that says "always check to see if Internet Explorer is the default browser" or something along those lines. Check that box, and then try quitting and restarting IE.
(edit: Dude, Tom is a whole two minutes faster than me! I hang my head in shame.)
Okay, like this isn't all embarassing enough, I'm using MSN Explorer at the moment, which runs as my default, usually. Thing is, I can't seem to find the (apparently) elusive "internet options".

DH sent an email for the Hive =mind
Does anyone knows how to lift the Cingular subsidy lock on a Handspring/PalmOne Treo?
You also might be able to find the "Internet Options" on the Control Panel.
Clever you. Who'd of thunk?
Checked that, and everything seems normal and all the defaults are correct, maybe it's just a glitch, or me.... probably me.
I will give a shiny penny to whoever can tell me how to sync Google Calendar with my Treo on my Mac. (There's a program out there that does it for Windows, using .NET, but sadly, I have no Windows and no .NET.)
[eta: Bluetooth solutions would also be acceptable. Exporting my Google Calendar to iCal every night, less so.]
I guess this means the "Yay thank you!" email I sent didn't get to you. But I did, so thank you very much!
You're welcome! I shall delete the file now.
