Well some friends of Buffy played a funny joke and they took her stuff and now she wants us to help get it back from her friends who sleep all day and have no tans.

Anybody have a clue why my laptop would suddenly decide I don't have an airport card installed? I"ve had it for, oh, two and a half years? Computer (powerbook, same age) was freaking out and demanding I restart it, last night, so I left it off all day. Got home, turned it on, worked fine...except suddenly says "No airport card installed". WTF?

I tried to pull the airport card out, but although I put it in, I couldn't figure out how to get it out--the little cord thing that attaches it confused me, and I wasn't sure if I could/should detach it. Sadly, that and restarting the thing multiple times did not fix the problems. GRRRRRRR.

All is well that ends in pizza.

meara, what model is your powerbook?

It's a 1GHz G4.

It's been doing weird annoying stuff where it needs me to restart it--either the "YOU MUST RESTART YOUR COMPUTER NOW" stuff, or just refusing to wake up from sleep and requiring a restart (and occasionally thinking it's 1969 after that). This spring I had to reformat the hard drive three times in about a month. This weekend, it was doing that again (requiring restart after about 5 minutes of using it) and I was sore afraid....but then it's working fine today, other than that whole lack of acknowledging the airport card.

Here's Apple's page on installing the card: [link]

Some other site suggests removing the AirPortSW.pkg file from /Library/Receipts/ and reinstalling the airport software.

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

Whoot! I *finally* have the internets at home again. Since I'm reinstalling Firefox, anyone have some must-have extensions that I should be seeking out?

Coding and Sleeping

Tab Mix Plus - Essential, the extension I'd pick if there can. be. only one.

All in one Gestures - Mouse gestures, very useful.

Extended Status Bar - It's just a display of stats not functional.

RiteOfTongue - Can spellcheck a selected word.

PDF Download - Get a choice of what to do with PDF files. I find it useful.

There are several versions of DTA. I don't remember what the difference is between the versions. Anyway, you might want to poke around and try another version or maybe some other similar extension.
