A turkey in every toilet -- only in America!

Thanks for all those recs, ND. We appreciate the effort! I should have been more specific though -- this is for print interviews so the sound quality only has to be good enough to transcribe from. She's hoping to keep it under $100.

We just got back from Radio Shack where we got this voice recorder along with a cheap cell phone connector. We tested it and it works well enough for an interview she's doing on Monday, but we're open to returning it and buying something else for future interviews.

Lurching from one disaster to the next.

Add Host Affection to the recommended pro-hosting list. After iValueHost became shit, I chose them to host Ehrensteinland, and they've been excellent. They're actually owned by Steadfast Network, which has its own datacenter. Despite being so big, the support has been immediate and very helpful. I've also got Eviljimi.com piggy-backed on the Ehrensteinland account. We're on the "Advanced" plan. [link]

Hmm definitely the lowest priced service anyone has recommended so far. Don't even think I need the advanced. If I choose them I will go for "executive" since I make extremely sparse use of graphic. (Actually the starter would work; 6 gig per month of bandwidth would work fine. My entire site - all pages and graphics combined are well under 100 k. But I long ago learned, get at least one level of service above what you think you will need - so the executive with 15 gig of bandwidth is probably right to be on the safe side.)

Thanks evil jimmi. How are you and moonlit doing anyhow?

Art Crawl!!!

Okay, my computer is acting crazy and might have a virus. (This is my computer at home.) I need a link to a site that lists viruses so I can see what it is and if there's anything I can do.

Question - what is your current anti-virus? Is it up to date?

Art Crawl!!!

I don't think it's up-to-date --- other than microsoft security updates.

A lot of time I would say buy the current edition of McAfee. Update it. Boot into safe mode. Run it.

Art Crawl!!!

I can't figure out how to boot it in safe mode. Can I do that from scandisk? Can I hit escape and do it without a prompt?

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

HTML question: we have an email newsletter that someone developed a Dreamweaver template for, and we basically just drop in the text etc. Is there any way to fix the column margins in the template so they don't vary when you print it out? (I mean, when one person prints it out it looks fine, someone else does and the columns are all kerfluey.)

Needless to say, neither of us working on this actually knows HTML.

Sumi: . I presume you have already installed McAfee and updated it. Cause you need to do that before going into safe mode.

Instructions for booting into safe mode.
