"And to be clear, I am the hell. And the high water."

so I had a fucking incident with my new cell phone. I'm going to kill cingular. When I am done with them, I will take requests for individuals or corporations to harm later.

I ordered the cell phone off the cingular website (I discovered btw that cingular has a pretty decent corporate plan for those of you who work with companies they have agreements with) - I got the phone yesterday and spent 2-3 hours with nimrods on the online chat help who couldn't tell me how I could open up webpages on the new phone (motorola Razr). I went to Cingular store twice today to find out that the only way to do it (supposedly) is to use Opera's minibrowser.

WTF? My old (2-3 year old phone) did this without much trouble, why did I need to download crap to get it done with the new phone?

First world problems, but shit.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

LeN, I did download Opera's minibrowser--but I used my phone's built in browser to get to it.

So that makes no sense. I more likely believe that tech support are dumb than they removed the built-in browser, but whatever it is--Cingular dumbness is there.

Dell's solution actually worked. It may be a sign of the apocalypse.

Dell's last solution worked for me too--UPS picked up their laptop yesterday, and I bought a Sony Vaio instead.

Just put apache on my xp home lap top.

When I opened up hosts to create some virtual directories - xp told me it was in use. I assumed user was apache, shut down apache - still in use. How do I track down what program/process has it open?

t On Edit

Found the problem. Handles found no conventional locks, but it turns out that zone alarm lock hosts even if it set not. You have to lock and unlock hosts in zone alarm to access it - and even then it only sticks for the windows session. On the whole it is a good thing - but I wish they would give a message.

"And to be clear, I am the hell. And the high water."

Folks, I am desperately looking for a way to display the time when I am in a phone call on a Motorola Razr. it doesn't seem to be a standard feature for motorola phones. I can display the LENGTH of the phone call, but not what time it is. Is there a way to do it?

So what do you do when your iPod's battery doesn't last long enough for you to update it via USB with all the songs? It's possible the battery's toast--it's only 2679 or so songs. But there must be a way, no?

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

My iPod has gets its recharging via a USB-to-iPod connector cable... I thought that was how they all did. Sorry. There's a Genius Bar at Apple stores, though so maybe somebody there would have a better idea?

ita,

you need to get a firewire cord (the one that is a double firewire and usb cord) and connect it to the power supply while it syncs. that might be the cheapest option now to get another wire and cord.
