I have my modem, and router on a surge protector. Use that as an off switch , and turn it off most nights. Solved a bunch of problems. Hope I'm not setting myself off for future problems by doing this instead of unplugging, but can't see why flicking the off switch on a surge protector won't do the same thing.

I must obey the inscrutable exhortations of my soul—Calvin and Hobbs

Hi there, technosavvy folks. I'm finally getting ready to upgrade my ancient iBook from OS9 to OSX. And I was wondering if I'll have to reinstall all my other applications after I do this. I expect my old versions of Word and Photoshop will have to run in OS9 emulation, but I'm ok with that since I use them once every three months, if that. I mostly use the iBook for surfing.

Remember that the frontier of the Rebellion is everywhere. And even the smallest act of insurrection pushes our lines forward.

Just make sure your iBook has lots of memory, Calli.

OK, thanks Tom. I'll have to check, but I'm pretty sure I bumped up the RAM a fair bit when I bought it.

S to the A -- using they/them pronouns!

So, is there a particularly good calendar/to-do list program that works with Windows Mobile other than Outlook that is particularly good or interesting? I've been using Outlook for the last four years, and it's fine, but kind of boring.

"And to be clear, I am the hell. And the high water."

I am having problems with some CD disks. All of them come from the same source: the federal government. They have data on them that I need and I have to install this software program to access the data.

However, when I do "Run" or double-click the setup program, the program hangs.

What can I do to diagnose the problem?

All is well that ends in pizza.

I can see no reason doing this is any different than unplugging it. All they want is interruption of current.

In fact it might be better. Most people pull the plug end out of the modem. Those sockets can get worn, and/or gunked up.

More than usual? I'll take a look at mine.

ETA: Seems to be normal for mine.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

Surely there must be a Buffista who can win this contest. Daniel? ND? Scola?
