Y'all see the man hanging out of the spaceship with the really big gun? Now I'm not saying you weren't easy to find. It was kinda out of our way, and he didn't want to come in the first place. Man's lookin' to kill some folk. So really it's his will y'all should worry about thwarting.

The generation that could change the world is still looking for its car keys.

FYI, for those travelling, [link] will retreive mail from any POP3 account (which is what most ISPs use).

Thanks for your help last night, guys. It was apparently a defective disk, but since it was brand new, that was probably the last thing I would have thought of without prompting.

I can't even.

Gandalfe, that's a great tip.

All is well that ends in pizza.

You know I don't get bad discs very often anymore, but back in the 4x-8x days there were as many as 5 in 100 or worse.

I wonder how sick of me the CDR makers would be by now if I would have bothered asking for replacements, as per their warrantees?

I signed up for MaGlobe, which seems quite reasonable so far. We'll see how it works from my Mom's house tomorrow!

In the most unexected of Xmas miracles, a friend gave me his two year old eMac. (he's giving up on Apple...sigh)

It is big and pretty but has no dvd drive. Any recommendations for an external drive I could buy? (cheaper the better)

I still have the 5 year old iMac I'm coming to you on now, but the eMac has a bigger screen...neeaaattt.

Since no tv equals computer=entertainment center...maybe I should just use them both! hm. I wonder if the combined weight will tax my coffeetable/bench?

Beej, I've seen external DVD with CDRW externals using USB connectors for around $60 shipped on Froogle doing a quick search, so finding cheaper might be simply a matter of a little looking around.

Might even get a DVD writer of some format, and they usually have CDRW thrown in.

Firewire might be a little more expensive, but sometimes an external is both.

I'd check pricewatch.com, Froogle, maybe even eBay. In the next week a lot of people will be getting rid of their old computer stuff, because they got newer stuff for Christmas.

Thanks Dan, ebay is a good idea. I'm having trouble figuring out what I need...brands, etc. but I'm sure to find a upgrade cast off deal on ebay.

The eMac has OSX 10.1.?

I wonder if the Macmall Panther and iLife bundle ($100 after a $50 rebate) is worth it. Any thoughts?

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

So is there any reason I shouldn't install the iPod on my work computer before my home computer?

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

I'm not positive, but I think you can only "associate" an iPod with one computer.
