If it continues for a few more days, I'll just create a profile backup then reinstall Firefox and see if it does the trick. I tried clearing my cache and removing related cookies, but it didn't do anything.

Got a question about technology? Ask it here. Discussion of hardware, software, TiVos, multi-region DVDs, Windows, Macs, LINUX, hand-helds, iPods, anything tech related. Better than any helpdesk!
OK, this isn't urgent, cause it's not stopping me from anything, but it's WEIRD...
So, the other day I got tangled in wires and accidentally pulled the ethernet cable out of my laptop. Uh oh. So then the cable (or another one I tried) wouldn't stay in the computer, but if I held it there, would mostly work.
So I go buy a wireless router, and set it all up and such (which was hard, cause they made me wire it up to my ethernet connection! Grrr). And I've got it all set up, and it shows up as one of the options, and when I click on it, it asks for the password, and I put it in...and then it says "There was an error joining the AirPort network (nameIgaveit)".
Except...here I am, on the internet. WTF?
Anyone use uknova.com? It's not letting me log in, denying that my registered e-mail address is in their database--but I'm looking at my confirmation and previous password reset e-mails, and it's the same address?
Also, the signup screen is blank.
Stoopid frelling Firefox. For no discernable reason, the search box up on the right-hand corner is broken. Furthermore, I cannot save bookmarks. I just trashed it and reinstalled but the problem is still with me. I guess I'm going to have to try salvaging my bookmarks from my profile and trashing that. I don't wanna, though.
Did you try re-customizing just that toolbar?
I ended up going to the Firefox FAQ and learning that I could use MacOS X terminal to restart in safe mode. The search box worked in safe mode so it seems one of the Firefox plug-ins must be the culprit. I restarted supposed in safe mode but with extensions enabled and the search box is working now. I suspect that when i need to restart Firefox, the problem will show up again and I'll have to chase down which particular thing broke. But it will be a nice learning experience.
Reinstalling Firefox to fix my problem loading Amazon.com didn't help. I created a fresh install with a new profile and also tried safe mode, but it's still not loading reliably.
I have to say that I haven't heard anything good about the XPS machines, and I have heard some very bad about them.
The DH and I both have XPSs, for over a year now, and no real complaints. One of my hard drives was faulty, but that was easily fixed.

Question for the Hivemind: Is there any way to collect all news articles on the internet about a certain topic? Even if some of the articles are in, say, Greek, and some of the sources don't do RSS feeds (bastards!)?
I have a research project for work, and instead of going to 15 websites every day I was hoping to find some way to bring the newsy goodness to my door.
Have you tried Google Alerts [link] Raq?
HiddenSky, my work XP computer has Firefox 1.5.0.1. Amazon is still working fine.
Do you have SP2 installed? All the latest Windows updates? That's the only other thing I can think of....
