How to run iPod's built-in diagnostics: [link]
Find out if your iPod problem is hardware, etc....
Got a question about technology? Ask it here. Discussion of hardware, software, TiVos, multi-region DVDs, Windows, Macs, LINUX, hand-helds, iPods, anything tech related. Better than any helpdesk!
Oh, good. Mine seems to have lost the habit of turning itself off when it's on pause.
Is anyone here using a Windows Mobile 5 smart phone? I'm thinking about one to replace my Treo 650.
I'm thinking about one to replace my Treo 650.
Any particular reason you're replacing it beyond New Toy itchiness? (I ask because as soon as my Verizon contract allows, I do wan to trade in my current phone for a new one, preferable a Treo or VCast or other does-everything kind of device.)
I'm tired of my Treo crashing on me. Also I use my phone so much that I tend to wear them out. Beyond that I'm just tired of Palm OS not multitasking and basicallt showing how outdated it is.
I hated my Windows Mobile 5 PDA for the OS bit, though the features kind of rocked.
Of course, it doesn't help that EVERYTHING I own is a Mac, so installing softwae was a biatch.
Also, that wasn't the phone edition that I used.
ETA: I'll probably stick with my Treo until
1) A Newton Phone/PDA (or other Apple interface) is released
2) A treo 700l (linux instead of windows) is released, and doesn't suck
3) There's clearly no other choice but Windows for PDA phones
... whichever comes first.
It's not as bad for me since phones are pretty much a one year commitment for me.

Yeah, that's my main motivation for sticking with Palm -- I don't relish the idea of making Windows Mobile play with my computer. (Plus, all my other software is Palm, and I don't want to have to replace it all.)
Syncing a Windows PDA on Mac isn't bad with Missing Sync (which i have for my palm anyway, as it's significantly nicer than iSync), but installing software? Most of which comes packed in SELF-EXTRACTING WINDOWS EXEs for absolutely no reason? Very annoying.
(Windows Mobile has a perfectly portable method of installing software called CAB files. It works FINE on a Mac - transfer the file, run it on the PDA, voila! Unfortunately, most commercial software ISN'T AVAILABLE that way unless you get in a long discussion with various customer service representatives about your needs. Ver' obnoxious.)
Just saw this MacZot! site today: [link]
Does anyone know what the other one (that probably inspired it) is called? It offers only one product per day and occasionally offers surprise brown packages. All electronics and tech stuff.
