Does anyone know why a PS2 game from America wouldn't work in a Playstation bought in Ireland? I thought they weren't regional?

PS2s made for UK/Europe and presumably Ireland are part of the PAL system, whereas PS2s made for the US are NTSC/US and Japan has NTSC/JAP. The games are coded to go with the systems. That may be why it isn't working.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

Oh. Duh. I was thinking of the PSP. Sorry.

Ah, thanks guys. That's what I figured, but the Bloke brought a game back from America to play on my console. He asked and they said it would work fine, but I guess the shop dude didn't know what he was talking about.

See? I gave everybody here an opportunity to tell me what a bad person I am and nobody did, because I fuckin' rule.

Eek, sorry about the links! Stoopid Apple store.

Given that ours will be non-networky, plugged right into the computer it'll be sitting 18 inches from, and not speaking to any other piece of equipment, any server, or anything else, I'm guessing we'd be fine with an HP?

Coding and Sleeping

I rather like my Epson R200. The printing directly on printable CDs is way nifty. I don't know how well it plays with Macs. Works fine with Linux though.

Compassionately intolerant

Is it networked or plugged directly into your computer? The folks above have only had problems when it was networked.

Sorry that I commented and ran.

The HP all-in-one is connected to both my eMac and an iMac, connected to an ancient HP Laserjet 6L.

There are a number of "mod chips" on the market that can be used to circumvent the codes and play all PS2 games on a particular. The installation is easy - if you're comfortable with opening up electronics and screwing around with wires and a soldering iron inside. Otherwise most vendors have a service where they'll do it for you for a nominal fee. It's well worth it if you plan on playing a lot of foreign games, but NSM for just one.

All is well that ends in pizza.

Someone found a message on the new Mac OSX for Intel software: [link]

I wonder if they put that there as a "legal warning" or as an admonishment?
