I cannot figure out WMM. But I only tried for an hour or so. ::shrugs::

All is well that ends in pizza.

It's counterintuative to you, because you have a different (usually stronger) technical background than the target user

Yeah, I am used to editing systems that I've used in the past, all the way back to editing film and video on tabletop machines.

I have, by the way, sussed it out. It took me a couple of extra hours and clues from you, though I still had the program go not reponding on me many times after I clicked to drag the endpoints or made a fade addition.

So much for a 2 Ghz athlonXP 2600+, 512MB RAM, 64MB Radeon 7000 machine. Needs lots more RAM. Someday.

So if I may delurk with a question ...

I downloaded my first tv show this week. My software to play it is called Nero. I'm running Windows 98 (sad, I know). The audio and video tracks are not running at the same speed. I hear the dialogue at regular speed, and the video is lagging quite a bit behind.

Is it a problem with the file? Is there something I need to adjust in my program settings? Do I just have a crappy system? (well, yeah, but ...) Do you need more information?

This wouldn't have been a problem if I'd taped the special like I planned, but I spaced. Help!

"Mister Spock is on his fanny, sir. Reports heavy damage."

I've seen that happen in the souped-uppest of souped-up downloads. It can be pretty funny.

I think that better equipment leads to a lesser differential of visual/audio tracks, but it does happen a lot. (I'm sure more technically able than I can offer specific tweaks.)

I'm happy to hear it is common, Nutty, that makes me feel less incompetent. However, I am sad, like, whoa! It was the Doctor Who Christmas special! I am bereft!

You always do this. We get tipsy, and you take advantage of my love of the scientific method.

You should also check to see if you have the latest codecs. That can sometimes make a difference.

I'll continue to recommend videohelp.com. Loads of tutorials.

Thanks DX! I'll look at that tonight.

All is well that ends in pizza.

I would also suggest the use of VLC player until you get the kinks worked out in your other player.

I was charmed (albeit somewhat perplexed) by the fannish sensibility of many of the music choices -- it's like the director was trying to vid Canada. --loligo on the Olympic Opening Ceremonies

Any ideas why the VLC sound quality is incredibly awful for me? I know so many people who swear by it, but it sounds to me like a mis-tuned radio station.

Thank you Daniel, that looks interesting. The things you learn here.
