And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

Let's say hypothetically that I had a DVD with 2 unaired episodes of a certain cancelled television show. What would be the best way to share them? (Other than mailing the DVD around, which is certainly possible, but slow and likely to take years.)

[edit: And if your answer is "make a torrent," please include specific instructions with helpful links!]

[eta2: "Mail it to me and I'll make a torrent for you" would be an acceptable answer as well.]

All is well that ends in pizza.

From Slashdot:

The U.S. Military has created the first ever prototype for an exoskeleton to be worn by soldiers capable of making its 100 pound weight and a 70 pound supply package feel like five pounds." From the article: "Bleex 1 consists of a pair of hydraulically powered leg braces, more than 40 electronic sensors, a control computer, and an internal-combustion engine providing power from an attached backpack. The plastic and carbon-fiber braces are affixed rigidly to the soldier through a customized pair of standard Army boots, with more compliant and giving connections at the chest and waist. These looser connections prevent blisters and abrasions."

Your tag here.

Bleex 1

Huh. That article seems to imply the only purpose of the exoskelton is to increase the load carrying capacity of a soldier (70 pounds in the current model, 200 in Bleex2) and its fuel supply only lasts 15 minutes. To what end?

All is well that ends in pizza.

That's probably why it's still in prototype stage...

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

meara, I went ahead and bought an a battery from Apple when I had the same problem, and I've been happy with it. I'm trying to follow their suggestion of running it down pretty frequently in the hopes that that willextend it's life. I've only had it a month or two, so I can't tell how well that's working, yet.

I'm going to send off my old batter to be reconditioned as soon as I have the time and energy to deal with it. I've heard that that works well. And I've also heard that third party batteries last longer than Apple, but I had a hard enough time figuring out what battery I needed to get while only considering the official Apple ones, so I didn't go that route. Also, buying from Apple meant going to an apple store and getting a battery right then rather than waiting for something to come in the mail. But I don't know that there's a wrong answer, really.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Once you have the file ripped to a decent size, Jessica, the torrenting part isn't really that hard. That's the best part to get it really out there into the world, including to anonymous folk. Is that what you want, or do you want to do something more pointed, like yousendit?

Oh, yousendit's a good idea. And probably less legally dicey than torrenting, even if these won't ever air.

The problem I'm having now is that I can't seem to rip the whole thing -- only the first ep, which is the only one of the three that aired!

Anyone want to recommend a good DVD ripper for Mac?

Hey. New board.

Handbrake is the easiest to use, and also one of the most feature-rich for ripping to various types of AVI files. Send me an email if you want suggestions on which options to use.

I tried Handbrake, and it only got the first ep. Ditto w/Mac the Ripper.

(Being a preview disc, I'm sure there's some copy protection involved -- there may not be a free program that can break it.)

Remember that the frontier of the Rebellion is everywhere. And even the smallest act of insurrection pushes our lines forward.

Being a preview disk, it might also be that the disk isn't protected at all.
