Death is your art. You make it with your hands day after day. That final gasp, that look of peace. And part of you is desperate to know: What's it like? Where does it lead you? And now you see, that's the secret. Not the punch you didn't throw or the kicks you didn't land. She really wanted it. Every Slayer has a death wish. Even you.

Embrace the idea that we are the leaders we've been looking for. Grace Lee Boggs

I just went to open Firefox, and it's gone. I had cleaned up my desktop, and moved the installer into the trash (now undone). But I thought it was safe to move the installer once it was installed? Any ideas? I can reinstall, but would prefer to recapture my bookmarks. I'm using Linux, Fedora core 2, but am lately pondering how smart it is for me, who is pretty non-techie, staying with it. A friend talked me into it and set it up, but he moved. I like it, except when I'm totally clueless or when I can't get plugins and peripherals to work.

Thanks for any advice!

libkitty, I'm reasonably certain you can reinstall without losing your bookmarks.

Oh, great! Thanks!

eta: Boy, do I feel stupid now. Apparently I had managed to change the default browser and erase all mention of Firefox without actually deleting it. I'm not sure how exactly I did that, but it seems to work now. Is this a sign that I should move to the evil empire, or a sign that I can muddle through with occasional and much appreciated help? Time will tell.

I'm conflicted, Eddie. On the one side, everything is written for MS, so it's easy. On the other side, everything is written for MS, so it's easy for everyone else to get into my computer and kill it.

Ann, that's a ferret.

A question for the tech types.

A couple of months ago, we bought a new computer. Lately, the (Norton) antivirus has been acting up, including preventing us from accessing legitimate stuff.

Hubs has been trying to correct things by uninstalling and reinstalling, but the computer won't let him reinstall the antivirus. We even went out and bought a fullblown Norton Internet Security package, and the computer won't let that install.

Any ideas?

Fred Pete: yeah, Norton doesn't really uninstall itself when you tell it to uninstall. Personally, I think it's a scheme to keep novices from switching from their product.

Anyway, they have a tool to really uninstall their product:

Now let us crush something soft and watch it fountain blood. That is a girlish thing to want to do, yes?

No, I haven't tried it yet, but the Windows box hasn't been earning its keep lately.

Thanks, Eddie. I'll pass the info on to Hubs.

Cats to become a rabbit should gather immediately now here

I am a PC idiot, but...

In word I seem to have accidently turned on a setting in which I am seeing paragraph symbols, dots for spaces and arrows for tabs.

I have looked under the views menu and can't find a setting for this.

Help!
