Should I just send you like a twenty, to cover a whole bunch of calls? Is it extra for long distance?
You'd better send me a $100, just in case. Small unmarked bills, please.
Got a question about technology? Ask it here. Discussion of hardware, software, TiVos, multi-region DVDs, Windows, Macs, LINUX, hand-helds, iPods, anything tech related. Better than any helpdesk!

GoDaddy's Domain By Proxy not as secure as you might think -- the article explains that it's pursuant to the terms of service.
Do any Mac users have recommendations about image editing software?
At least at first, I would mostly be using it to make icons, so I want something on the cheaper side.
LemkeSoft Graphic Converter is worth every penny. [link] The shareware fee is $30.
Perkins probably already has that -- I do -- I think it came with Tiger. Is there a PSP analogue for OSX? Graphic Converter didn't strike me as that.
Since I haven't used PSP on the PC for several years it may have gotten more elaborate.
Either way, I do a lot of the basic functions of photoshop on GC, and only fire up Photoshop when I have ten minutes to brew some tea while it loads. (My computer is very old).
PSP is pretty complex these days. For icon-making it's mostly the layer and blending that I don't remember from GC that Perkins might find useful.
I use Photoshop Elements, which is about $80 depending on where you buy it.
[eta: It's $69.99 at Amazon right now.]
Thanks! I will try the Graphic Converter tonight--I do have it, but I am not sure it will do what I want it to. If not, Elements sounds good.
Hi all
I have 2 questions:
I am have just changed jobs and have gone from using Filemaker Pro to Microsoft Access. Does anyone have any recommendations as to books, tutorials, etc. I need to be able to build reports, queries, etc. What I would really like is a resource that tells me how to do what I alread know how to do in Filemaker in Access, like a translator or something!
Does anyone know how to do a find in Access? That is, I can't figure out how to easily locate groups of records (like, say everyone who took a certain class). I have a database that was built by my boss, and he has taken away the title bar (file, edit, etc), so I can't build a query (if that is what I do. He finds students in a class by pageing through them until he finds to ones he wants. This is driving me buggy!
Thanks
