You always do this. We get tipsy, and you take advantage of my love of the scientific method.

Betsy, I like Casio's keyboards [link] a lot. I've owned several. This is the one I have currently [link] , which comes with a SmartMedia reader. They all offer several play modes.

"I'm useless alone." // "We're all useless alone. It's a good thing you're not alone."

LN, I won't mock you, if you don't mock my pain that Word insists on repaginating the entire fucking 350 page document every time I apply a bulleted list.

Every time.

Do you know how long it takes Word to repaginate a 350 page document?

"And to be clear, I am the hell. And the high water."

Dana,

any way you can split that document into 3 or more parts? You need to use master documents for a document of that size.

"I'm useless alone." // "We're all useless alone. It's a good thing you're not alone."

I know, but no, and master documents was buggy as fuck last time I used it, and it's only going to be my problem for a limited time, so I don't honestly care that much.

"Faded like the lilac, he thought."

ND and I are talking about two different levels of investment.

Hee. Yes, yes, you are.

We use Roland products almost exclusively and like them quite a bit, although their manuals are notoriously, well, Japanese. With our students for lower level, portable instruments that you can bang around, we use cheap Casios.

Of course, ND's other suggestions are also fine, quality instruments.

Our wings are not tired

Yeah, you'll spend a bit more on the stuff that I listed. Though not always a ton more. All of those companies have been dropping the entry level price of their gear.

Another thing to consider is whether or not to get a keyboard with weighted keys. If the kids will be playing piano or want to transfer the skills to a real piano then weighted can make a big difference.
