Yes, extremely closely to the transmitter as you are describing it would just barely get signal and be able to connect.
hmm...I'll have to check this out when I get home. I really hope it's that easy! Thank you for giving me hope!
Got a question about technology? Ask it here. Discussion of hardware, software, TiVos, multi-region DVDs, Windows, Macs, LINUX, hand-helds, iPods, anything tech related. Better than any helpdesk!

Is LJ being fucky for anyone else? When I try to post a comment I can't log in because the field that asks for my name won't actually acknowledge that I've typed anything and now I am grumpy.
I use GoDaddy as my domain registrar. I haven't had any problems, and I think I've been with them for about 2 years.
We've used Dotster for the past...I dunno, 3-4 years? I have no complaints.
I use dotster as well. But FAQ Wife noted that GoDaddy was cheaper.
I'm a craxxy big spender, but I love DomainDiscover.
I used Dotster in the past, too, and only jumped to GoDaddy because it was cheaper, so I have no complaints about either registrar.
Hi
A coworker is looking for a free, downloadable software for windows XP which would back up files to a server. She has tried dragging and copying them over, but it is making aliases (or whatever the PC term is). This would be something like Silverkeeper (http://www.lacie.com/silverkeeper/) but for a PC. THe hard drive is about to die, and our boss has several important documents saved to the hard drive. There is no CD burner or floppy drive.
Thanks
FYI, for those who care, there is now free Wi-Fi throughout downtown Salt Lake City, courtesy of X-Mission. Whose owner is challenging Orrin Hatch for the senate, so that's all right.
Oh, hey, I almost forgot. Happy System Administrator Appreciation Day!
It's not midnight here yet, so getting in a woo-hoo, just under the wire!
