Rob, my department would like to buy you a beer, and possibly build a statue of you in the lobby. Thank you so so much!

I bought a DVD recorder and have started transferring stuff from VHS. The manual says I have to "finalize the disc" to make it playable on "external devices". I am unclear on what that means and if I really need to do it. I'm questioning the advisability because the first thing I transferred played back fine (on the recorder) until I finalized it. After it was finalized, it didn't play back on the recorder, or in my laptop, and became no longer recordable. If I don't finalize my discs, will they only play back on this recorder?
I went ahead and bought a new DVD-recording TiVo! Cause it was only $260 for an 80 hour one, at Best Buy, and I got the HR person to promise to FINALLY get me the referral bonus I've been waiting on, today. It's setting up RIGHT NOW.
I still might get a new powersupply for my old one and set it up with the other TV. Depends on how many shows conflict this fall...anyone know already of any big conflicts?
Did you mean to put that here, LN?
yes, isn't it in response to meara's question?
