"And to be clear, I am the hell. And the high water."

Sophia,

have you been renting a lot? Netflix does this to you if you rent a lot. They like to slow down your rentals. There's a term for it, but I've forgotten it.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I thought that was just a rumour.

(I think it's called throttling -- never happened to me, but who knows?)

"And to be clear, I am the hell. And the high water."

Nope. I googled this because it happened to Beau and me. They have folks who have been documented this issue.

There's a "secret" max that netflix has for each each and once you go above that in a 30 day period, your movies start slowing up SIGNIFICANTLY.

Oh...the term is "throttle." Google netflix and throttle and you should get a fair # of links.

Cats to become a rabbit should gather immediately now here

Thanks. During the winter I don't rent a lot at all, but now that school is out, I was getting about 20 movies a month on the 5 at a time plan.

Well, they do say this:

In determining priority for shipping and inventory allocation, we give priority to those members who receive the fewest DVDs through our service. As a result, those subscribers who receive the most movies may experience next-day shipping and receive movies lower in their queue more often than our other subscribers.

in their terms of service. Still, even when I was plugging through three or four a week, my turnaround time was three business days -- it was rare they didn't send me a receipt e-mail within 24 hours of me putting the disc in the mail.

"And to be clear, I am the hell. And the high water."

Netflix held 2 movies from me last month for 4-5 days.

Five at a time now, but I have been up to eight and down to three at various points.

I sort of wish they would take into account that from October - April, i probably got 30 movies total!

Perhaps, after moving, I'll up to the 8, though...

"And to be clear, I am the hell. And the high water."

yeah, Beau was watching close to 3-5 movies a week on the 4 at a time plan. You see why we got throttled.

We are now on the 5 at a time plan and Beau is getting pissed that he can only see 2 movies a week (I am seeing 2 movies a week too).
