Remember that the frontier of the Rebellion is everywhere. And even the smallest act of insurrection pushes our lines forward.

Does anyone know of a good, ideally free tool for making pretty graphs of a large amount of raw statistics I'm gathering?

I don't know how much time you want to invest in this, but there is a highly regarded set of statistical/graphing tools available from the r-project, which is a collaborative freeware effort by academics. It's not the most user-friendly thing available but it's flexible, free, and very good.

On the very limited but easy side, you might be suprised at what Excel and Powerpoint can do now.

"And to be clear, I am the hell. And the high water."

So I got a new software update on the Tivo. This new update includes a feature where I can turn off the Tivo magic lights at the front of the unit.

Why would I want to do this? Why did they include that feature?

There is one feature I'm dying for and they had to include that one?

If I only had a brain...

Why would I want to do this?

Because you have a second TiVo in the bedroom and the little green light keeps you up all night. (Actually, I just dimmed it.)

The generation that could change the world is still looking for its car keys.

Why would I want to do this?

Because you want to totally immerse yourself in the movie you're watching, and those lights just take you completely out of it?

You always do this. We get tipsy, and you take advantage of my love of the scientific method.

Because the glare of the lights keeps washing out the picture from the little secret spy camera in the front of the TiVo.

Trust my rage

I've seen this discussed in the past but I never cared that much before because I didn't have a Tivo. Why does my Tivo record the same Daily Show over and over and over when I have it set to record only "first run" TDS?

I'm guessing there is some glitch with Comedy central, but is there any way around it?

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

It's a glitch with the program listings, Stephanie. The listings are all identical, and in those situations where TiVo can't tell, it grabs everything.

Sometimes the listings include the guest name, and then it'll only record it the once. I assume this is because Comedy Central doesn't supply the right listings to whoever TiVo pulls from.

I've not worked out anything other than manually fixing it.
