[Jess], we bought one of the Panasonic Home Theater In A Box systems. We aren't audiophiles; it's fine for us, and the Dolby-ized movies are appropriately growly and whatnot. (We bought ours a year ago, and as far as I can see that model is discontinued.) We wound up choosing based on which one has the largest number of different kinds of inputs, since we have multiple game systems, TiVo, VCR, &c &c...

Oh, good point about multiple inputs. Definitely something to look for.
Best Buy has a 7.1 system that's calling to me, but is sadly out of our price range.
My employer is in the process of getting ready to sell off a JVC CD 600-count network "Jukebox" they decided didn't really suit their needs.
It sounds like they might eBay it. I have no more info at this time.
Edited: 600!
Okay. I suck at home electronics. If the dvd player is connected to the TV (into the input red yellow and white sockets), and it's on, why isn't the TV registering the dvd player, which is on, with a dvd inside? There's another circuit connected to the cable. And that's working. Is there some sort of switch somewhere, or something, that I should be looking for?
Thanks!
Is the TV set to the auxiliary input channel?
Also, what make and model is your TV? If I can look it up online, I might be able to get some exact answers for you.
Is that the channel three thing? So that the cable will work? Because, yes, I think so. I'm not sure how to change the channel on the tv, though. For some reason the buttons on the actual set don't work, and I don't think the remote control works, either.
That's going to be a problem, isn't it?
ETA: It's an RCA. Probably about 32". I don't know what model.
Look for an "input" button on the remote that belongs to the TV, and see if pressing it does anything.

Might be. Generally if you have special inputs on your TV, they are their own channels, usually lower than channel 2, labeled L1 or L2 or Aux1 or Aux 2 when you are channel changing.
Some tvs have a TV/Video button that lets you select line-in or the standard mode (my 1992 Sony does).

Okay, found that on the remote (which I've also found), but we have no AAA batteries, so I guess this is going to have to wait till tomorrow. Or something.
Thanks!
