Got a question about technology? Ask it here. Discussion of hardware, software, TiVos, multi-region DVDs, Windows, Macs, LINUX, hand-helds, iPods, anything tech related. Better than any helpdesk!
tommy, i know you didn't ask for help on this, but does your iPod still work with an older version of the software? I'm mainly curious because I had a previous problem a few months ago.
My current plan is to reinstal the previous update (2004-11-15) bu so far I've failed to get that version of the update software to work.

They reshow BG later tonight.

Yeah, and I'm also downloading it in another window. But I want to watch it now.
I'll fill you in as I watch. So far they have this new kick-ass Cylon psychiatrist played by Barry Manilow.

So not only did the new updater not work, but it also seems to have fried your iPod? That sounds bad. I did install the new one on my iPod and haven't had any problems and I hope it stays that way.
Gaaaah. It's been stuck on "setting clock" for the last ten minutes. I don't know if I should disconnect or keep waiting.
Hee - this is gonna be fun!
(from the Mac support site - one user's post)
DON"T RUN UPDATER
I just ran the updater on my 4G ipod and now every time I connect to iTunes I get an error -36 and I can't update any of my songs. I've restored to factory settings 3 times now, restarted my computer, the works. Looks like my ipod is screwed.
Man - it makes me wish it would break mine so I could get a new one. :)
I think I got it working. I tried about a million different things that were suggested in the Mac support iPod forums. Some things worked for some people but not others.
If someone else has the problem, let me know and I'll post all the differnt things I did. Otherwise I prefer not to use the brainpower it'll take to articulate all the steps I took.
Am now waiting for 6878 songs to be (re)copied to the iPod. Poor Kaylee - had her memory wiped....
eta: there's at least 20 threads on the Mac support site dealing with this issue - it appears that a lot of people were affected, and many do not have the problem resolved yet.
