If a wireless network is 802.11g, can an 802.11b card connect to it?
E's 802.11g computer connects to our 802.11b network just fine, but I've never tested it the other way around. I think 802.11g is supposed to be backwards-compatible both ways, though.
Hmm. If that's the case, then Sophia, that should work.
NB:
The laptop you linked to does NOT come with a wireless card installed; you'd have to have that added. But it seems like it would connect to a wireless network.
Thanks again Steph and Jessica!
That laptop is very similar to mine. It will connect to any wireless network just fine.
EDIT: Once you add the Airport card, that is.
So, no one can help me with the memory thing?
Meara, this page: [link] says it uses
256 MB, expandable to 1.25 using PC2100 DDR SDRAM memory
This site has a nice grid [link] of prices, including OWC's [link] for the exact module.
You might even save some for the Kingston ram or others scrolling down to NewEgg, but I'll see what other people add for input.
Always, of course, go for the lifetime warranty...
Yeah, sadly, since I posted that, I calculated my taxes. Which are not a refund, as I'd expected, but a HUGE ASS OWING thing. So, um, RAM may have to wait.
That Lokitorrent saga is worse than you think. A mate sent this in an email.
"Edward Webber, operator of Lokitorrent.com, has sold out 600,000+ registered users to the MPAA today in exchange for reduced fines. Edward agreed to turn over the entire server contents including all user information including IP addresses and email in exchange for a smaller $40,000 dollar fine. That fine is very similar to the $42,000 or so collected as the defense fund. That's a great defense isn't it Lokitorrent? taking the money we, your users, contributed and giving it to the MPAA directly."
Don't know the source.
oh man. well, well, well. I sure hope the MPAA doesn't go after those who downloaded "The Wire!" That's the only thing I picked up off lokitorrent. They had really bad torrents compared to LOL.
I registered at Loki but then didn't download anything. Great.
