ita, do it! Rob got me the hookup, and I have a 12" Powerbook, which is fabulous. Personally, I was afraid it would be too small, but I don't do any video editing or anything, so it works fine for me--I'm more likely to be carrying it through the airport, and glad it weighs and takes up as little space as it does.

Got a question about technology? Ask it here. Discussion of hardware, software, TiVos, multi-region DVDs, Windows, Macs, LINUX, hand-helds, iPods, anything tech related. Better than any helpdesk!
Apple has already lowered the prices of various build-to-order options for the Mini-Mac. [link] (site is semi-slashdotted at the moment)
Maybe they're responding to criticisms that the various options were overpriced.
iPod question:
Is there a way to make the iPod play gaplessly? The one I borrowed had an album where the tracks run together seamlessly on the CD, but on the iPod there was a fraction of a second of silence when it changed tracks.
So, the recent talk in Natter reminded me that I'm really not taking advantage of the technology available to me, so I thought I'd try this torrenting business. Is 10 hours of download time normal for a 1-hour show?
Yes, especially depending on how many people are seeding it.
Edit: Okay, I don't mean normal. I just mean that speeds can vary widely.
It depends upon your connection, your settings, and the number of other people who are torrenting the same file (the more, the better). On the night a show like Lost is released, it usually takes me a couple of hours to download on my cable connection.
OMG, so fancy -- now it's less than 4 hours to go! Sweet. How fun is this?? I no longer have to remember to set my stupid non-talking-to-my-cable VCR.
I've only torrented a few times, but I remember it started out really slow and gradually sped up....
Jesse,
be careful now. Someone got a threat to have her ISP pull access if she was caught torrenting again.
Don't torrent movies under any conditions. There are tv shows that are high risk too, but I don't know all of them.

That'd be me. MGM smacked me for downloading Stargate Atlantis. I don't know if only MGM is on the warpath, or what precisely is their stuff.
