Yes clicked downloads, Clicked plug ins. Unchecked the "enable" check box in the rightmost column. And it is fine - until it is mysteriously turned on again.

Okay, that means I am starting from the same place. Good. Off to explore....
What do you see in your C:\\Program Files\\Mozilla Firefox\\plugins folder?
Okay, so I removed some files with Spybot, and started getting the following error message at startup:
Runner Error
Could not load the target dll ("C:\Program Files\BackWeb\BackWeb Client\6.23.66\Porgram\BackWeb.dll", error code 126
I tried restoring the files in question, but I'm still getting the message. It doesn't seem to be doing any harm, but having to click past it every time I turn on the computer is getting old. Any suggestions?
What version of Windows are you running? Are you familiar with msconfig?

Windows XP, and no.
Daniel--yeah, in retrospect I suspect it's the program that was running my HP updates. So I figured putting it back would help, but... apparently something's still missing, and I have no idea where to go looking for it (and little desire to start randomly installing things that might be it). I'm kind of hoping I'm just missing something in Spybot, but it really looks like I've restored everything thta has to do with Backweb.
If it's part of something that's supposed to be there, then I don't know. Sorry.
Ah well, it was worth a shot. Thanks anyway.
